IIBDGC Proposal Form Version: 20 December 2010

International IBD Genetics Consortium

-Project Proposal Form -

The strength of the IIBDGC has been a result of its ability to bring together a large number of groups to work collaboratively on large-scale projects of importance to the IBD field. One of the benefits of these collaborations has been the creation of large datasets, which can then be used to answer new questions. All member groups of our Consortium that have signed off on the IIBDGC Data Sharing documents can have access to the datasets for MC-approved projects.

We would like to encourage as many projects as possible with the hopes of harnessing the expertise and efforts of as many members as possible (students, fellows, analysts, clinicians, geneticists etc). In an effort to promote transparency and collaboration, we would ask that members interested in leading a project please fill out the current Project Proposal Form. Leaders of proposed projects that overlap will be asked to coordinate efforts. All IIBDGC members will be welcome to join in on an approved project.

Project Title:
Date Submitted to MC / 201X, Month, XX
Proposed Team: / Name1, Institution1, email address, will have access to IIBDGC data ? (Yes/No)
Name2, Institution2, email address, will have access to IIBDGC data ? (Yes/No)
Etc.
N.B. Must indicate who will have access to data (genotype, phenotype)
Outside Collaborators:
Does the Team include people outside the IIBDGC? / Name1, Institution1, email address, will have access to IIBDGC data ? (Yes/No)
PLEASE NOTE THAT OUTSIDE COLLABORATORS MUST ABIDE BY MC DECISIONS RELATED TO THIS PROJECT (e.g. authorship); and the project lead must be a member of IIBDGC
Project Liaison / Insert name of PI (or PI’s delegate) responsible for acting as liaison with IIBDGC MC – charged with keeping MC and Team informed of progress, project decisions etc.

Are you requesting that additional genotype and/or phenotype data to be generated ? / Yes/No. If yes, please specify number of SNPs and/or new phenotypes to be collected and any relevant details.
(Please note that requests for new genotyping/phenotyping are dependent on finding funds. IIBDGC will work together to help find funds – as in the past we expect to be successful in finding funding for projects that will move the field forward).
Ethics Approval
(granted/pending) / Please indicate status of institutional approval of proposed project. Although IIBDGC MC can review a project proposal prior to obtaining institutional approval, data transfer and/or analyses for this project can’t occur until approval has been obtained (confirmation by PI will be sent in writing to MC)

Proposed authorship / See note #6 (below)
Projected Timeline / This must include timeline for obtaining additional data (if applicable), completion of analyses, first draft of meeting abstract (if applicable), first draft of manuscript
Data Products that will be generated and made available to IIBDGC members for future projects / Please describe.
Additional pertinent information / Please provide any additional information that you deem relevant to your project proposal.

Notes:

(1) Please name your file < ProjectLiaisonName_ShortTitle_XXmonth201X.doc

e.g. Barrett_FindingALLgenes_8november2010.doc

(2) Please send completed form to

(3) Any new data generated by this project using IIBDGC resources (samples, study participants, funding, etc.) shall be returned to the IIBDGC at completion of project. Specifically, the investigator(s) are required to provide the IIBDGC with data product(s) – raw and post-QC – of the entire data used to perform the study. The data products must be submitted to MC prior to manuscript submission.

(4) No IIBDGC data can be shared with a third party unless indicated in this Proposal Form and approved by IIBDGC MC.

(5) Project Liaison must provide a brief written progress update every quarter (January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, October 1st) to d may be invited to present at IIBDGC MC meeting.

(6) The information that you provide for “Proposed Journal/Meetings” and for “Proposed Authorship” are meant to provide IIBDGC MC and IIBDGC members with a general idea. Final approval will be required by MC prior to submission of abstract/manuscript as “reality” sometimes has an impact on our “proposals” !
