PURPOSE OF POSITION
The purpose of this position is to provide Therapeutic Family Counselling and Support Services for families of children and young people under 18 years
DUTIES
1. Provide approved Family intervention services in accordance with service plans for families with complex needs.
2. Provide direct clinical services including assessment, planning and delivery within the context of an interdisciplinary environment, maintaining an awareness of community and organisational objectives.
3. Provide clinical service delivery that is in accordance with evidence based practice, best practice and effective risk management.
4. Monitor and evaluate outcomes of clinical services within the context of an interdisciplinary environment.
5. Maintain an environment which adheres to OH&S, monitoring and reporting on non-adherence.
6. Work towards initiating and conducting practice based research in accordance with organisational objectives.
7. Contribute to the professional development of the service, including presenting to, mentoring, coaching and sharing knowledge with others.
8. To comply with the requirements of workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination practices and behaviour in the work environment.
9. Attend Family meetings as organised by the Department of Child Safety
MANDATORY
· The duties of this position involves working alongside children and families. Accordingly it is a requirement that employees be in the possession of Working with Children Blue Card. Employees that are unable to successfully obtain the Blue Card will not be able to be employed
· This position requires the incumbent to operate a 'C' class motor vehicle, and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty
· Possession of a degree in Social Work / Psychology from an accredited tertiary facility and eligible for membership to the AASW or professional registration as required by discipline
SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Demonstrated skills in assessment, counselling and case management skills and the ability to address individual and group issues in complex environments.
2. Demonstrated skills in Family Intervention and support services including skills in need assessment, planning, priority setting, negotiation, service development and evaluation.
3. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation skills, interpersonal skills, conflict resolution and the ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
4. Demonstrated ability to coordinate, design and deliver appropriate group support/education programs in response to identified individual and family case plans relevant to Family Intervention and parenting activities.
