HATTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

March 6, 2017, 6:P.M.

The Hatton City Council met at the City offices on Monday, March 6, at 6:00 P.M.

Council members attending were: Bernie Johnson, David Vold, Mark Duncan, Curtis Huus and Kim Ostlie . Mayor Douglas Meier and Council Person Annette Glennon were absent. Special Guest was: Michael, James and Jesslyn Reed. Jackie Buchwitz was also in attendance.

Dave Vold introduced Michael Reed, the son of James and Jesslyn Reed and a third grade student at The Hatton Public School as the 2017 “Mayor for a Day” contest winner.

Michael Reed called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM and assisted Council President Bernie Johnson in chairing the City meeting. He was also presented with a $50.00 monetary award.

Dave Vold made the motion to approve and accept the signed contract negotiation from Daniel Cute, the newly appointed City Auditor. Dan will start training on March 13, 2017 and will be taking over the position as Hatton’s City Auditor on May 19, 2017.

Bernie Johnson announced that Steven Gylten has accepted the Hatton City Maintenance position and will also start on March 13, 2017.

Curtis Huus motioned to approve the minutes from the February 6, 2017 Council meeting. Kim Ostlie seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Mark Duncan made the motion, seconded by K. Ostlie, to accept and approve all of the February 2017 financial reports. Motion carried.

Mark Duncan made a motion to approve the payments of the following bills: Aflac; $475.53, BC/BS; $896.80, Card member Services; $65.95, Century Link; $142.42, Grand Forks Traill Water Dist.; $5,317.46, Hatton Community Center; $1,576.67,Hatton Co-op Oil; $504.16, Hatton EDC; $3,153.32, Hatton Free Press; $204.84, Jobs HQ; $723.12,John Deere Financial; $493.86, Johnson Publishing; $165.00,Marco Inc. $143.55, Midco; $186.22, ND Dept. of Health; $239.63, NDPERS; $504.12, Ohnstad Twitchell, P.C.; $749.00, Paul Rayner Computer Repair; $225.00, Traill County Treasurer; $5120.33, Traill County Tribune; $117.00, USPS; $114.24, US Treasury; $933.15, Verizon Wireless; $118.11,Waste Management of ND; $10,183.95, Workforce Safety Ins. $368.26, Xcel Energy (Street Lighting); $1,553.80 and Xcel Energy; $1,257.92. Kim Ostlie seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dave Vold made the motion to approve the 2017 revised employee vacation and sick leave policy, Kim Ostlie seconded the motion. Motion carried. The Policy revision will go into effect immediately.

Bernie Johnson gave a brief report on the ongoing improvements being made at the Hatton Centennial Center.

Mark Duncan, on behalf of the Hatton Beautification Committee, requested the roof repair on the storage shed they’re using, at the back of the City shop, before they store supplies and decorations away for the season.

Having no other business, Duncan made the motion to adjourn; seconded Ostlie. Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned by Michael Reed at 7:15 PM.

The next City Council Meeting will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 6:00 P.M.
