REMISSION OF FEES

Families/carers receiving certain benefits can potentially receive remission for the cost of music lessons. Further details can be found on the Hertfordshire Music Service website at

Hertfordshire County Council offers this financial support scheme and they may operate a waiting list if they receive more applications than the available funding. Applications should therefore be made as soon as possible either online at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals or by telephoning the HCC Customer Service Centre on 0300 123 4048 and asking for help with music fees. Applications open in June and need to be received by the Music Service before the end of the Summer term each year so that it can be applied for the start of September.

Please inform Mrs White in the Music Department at Hitchin Boys’ School () that you are applying for remission of fees, or if you have any other questions regarding instrumental lessons.

Those receiving 50% remission will need to reapply annually in June. Those qualifying for Free School Meals and receiving 100% remission will have their benefits automatically checked by Hertfordshire County Council annually in June and, if confirmed, will then need to complete an application with the School. Funding for continuing pupils will only be agreed on the basis of good attendance and progression by the student in the prior year, and this funding may be withdrawn or not renewed if the student’s commitment to learning is unsatisfactory.
