CLASS TITLE:VOCATIONAL INSTRUCTOR III - F/C

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is instructional work teaching highly skilled vocations such as water and/or wastewater treatment, plumbing, pipefitting, cabinet making, masoning, printing, machining, welding, auto mechanics, auto body repair, diesel mechanics, refrigeration, electricity or electronic technology to students or inmates in a state institution. The employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class must spend a minimum of 75 percent of their time performing duties which involve contact with patients/inmates in a correctional or forensic facility or institution.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Supervises students or inmates in the learning of occupational skills.
  • Prepares reports on student behavior and progress.
  • Requisitions supplies and keeps inventory records.
  • Teaches behavior patterns appropriate to the occupation and involving safety, health and social skills.
  • Prepares equipment necessary for instructional purposes.
  • Performs all phases of the work of the occupational specialty.
  • Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication.
  • Knowledge of a skilled vocation such as plumbing, welding or printing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent and three years of experience in the occupational area being taught, as defined by the employing agency.
  • College education from an accredited institution or vocational/technical training in the occupational area being taught, as defined by the employing agency, can substitute at the rate of 30 semester, 45 quarter or 720 classroom hours for each year of the required experience.
