Summary:

1.  Approved Strategic Plan for 2013

2.  Reviewed process moving forward to insure document is executed and routinely revised as needed. The process follows:

a.  Each subcommittee leader will take responsibility for their particular section

b.  Leaders will meet on a monthly basis with the Dean at which time they will review progress to date and any revisions to their document (First weekly meeting of each month).

c.  The full SP committee will meet on a quarterly basis. At those meeting the full group will review one section of the document (as determined by the Dean and the Committee Chair).

d.  Once per year the Committee meeting will be devoted to a general review of the document and an update on growth opportunities and CMSRU direction.

2.  Discussion devoted to Growth opportunities was organized in three sections as follow:

a.  Revenue generation:

A.  Post-Bacc, MBS, etc. (P. Vanston)

B.  Spin off undergraduate programs attractive to RU pre-med students (J. McGeehan)

C.  High School summer camp/mini-med school programs (J. Mitchell-Williams)

D.  High-end lab certifications/lab service/ use (S. Mandayam)

E.  Medical writing certificate program (H. Mazurek)

F.  OMFS, DDS – MD degree granting program (J. Carpenter)

G.  Pharmacogenomics certificate program/Coriell (C. Knowlton)

H.  Outreach to Community Wealth Partners (C. Knowlton)

I.  Simulation opportunities: Nursing/Pharma/Industry/Engineering - SNJ based center for broad-based use (P. Katz)

J.  Academic forensics certificate (B. Kocher)

K.  Virtual tech lab (B. Kocher/H. Lopez)

b.  Revenue neutral: (may eventual provide revenue)

A.  College of Health Sciences (increased allied health profession options)

B.  Faculty Development/CME – create expertise and program development in ACOs/affordable care act implementation

A.  Discussion around insuring our medical students become the leaders that we espouse in our branding message

B.  Further discussion is needed on how CMSRU can increase its brand recognition among other medical schools, the community, potential medical students, the AAMC, media, etc. (good topic for future meetings)
