Literature Circles Final Projects
Your final project for literature circles will be a group project that is to be completed in class. If you are not here to work on your project, you will not receive the group’s mark, but will have to complete another assignment on your own. Each member must contribute ideas and work.
Each group will create a large poster (two or four sheets of Bristol board required, depending on group size) that advertises your book for others in the school to see.
It must have a decorative border (some relevance to the novel should be in the design).
Ø It must contain a balance of text and visual images.
Ø Text might include intriguing passages from the text to hook other readers in the school, a brief description of the plot (don’t ruin it for others though), quotations from group members responding to the novel, connections to other books, movies, etc..
Ø Visuals might include significant symbols, objects, settings, etc. It will depend on the book you have read, but your group should be able to come up with some good ideas. Sloppy work will not pass; be creative and think abstractly. You can use a variety of art supplies for this. Class time will be provided, but if you do not come prepared with supplies, additional time will not be granted.
Ø Your group is required to bring the materials for the project, including the Bristol board, markers, paints, or whatever you plan to use.
Ø The title, author, and genre must be included.
Ø It cannot contain mechanical errors and must not be thrown together hastily. It must represent insightful thinking about the whole text. Your group will explain its choices to the class.
This week’s final literature circle meeting should provide your group some time to plan how you want to design this. They will be displayed throughout the school. Hopefully, they might give other students some books to consider for SSR, or just for reading on their own.
