The Department of Physiology, University of Toronto (St. George campus) is recruiting a SessionalCoordinator for PSL301H1 (Human Physiology II) during the 2015 Summer Session. The course will run from June29 – Aug17, 2015, inclusive of the term test.

The overall Course Description is as follows: Second half of a 2-course survey of human physiology. Encompasses the blood, immune, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal and gastrointestinal systems.The course currently has an enrolment of ~150 students.

Duties will include: supervising the TAs who lead tutorials and invigilate exams; organizing and administering one term test, one‘make-up’ test, and the final exam; processing test and examination computer scantrons; providing a means for students to view their scantron answers after the term test; posting the instructor lecture notes and tutorial questions on the course webpage; dealing with student administration inquiries and medical notes; submitting the final marks to the Faculty of Arts and Science one week after the final exam; and interacting with Dr. NohjinKee.

In accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, the rate of pay will be $2,080.00inclusive of vacation pay.

Qualifications: a PhD and classroom lecturing experience in physiology and in teaching large classes required. The format of the term test is similar to that of the final exam and both are based primarily on thelecture material, but enrichment of your knowledge from recommended texts and the

tutorials is advised.

Mid-Term Tests: There are two mid-term tests, of 50 minute duration and containing about 26 questions. Each mid-term test is worth 20% of your final mark. All questions are multiple-choice, each with only ONE appropriateanswer. The score for each question is ONE OR ZERO. The answers will be posted on the course website after the makeup test iswritten (usually the following week); test resultsare posted on the website under “My Grades” a few days after thetest.

Supplementary (Make-up) Term Test: There will be no makeup tests for any reason, therefore, plan to study for and write all tests. Students who miss a test for genuine, documented medical reasons, may have their marks redistributed. An official U of T medical certificate ( must be submitted to the course coordinator within one week of the date of the missed test.

August (Final) Examination: The date will be scheduled by The Faculty of Arts and Science. Theexam covers all of the course material, lasts 2 hours, contains 56-60 multiple choicequestions, and is worth 57% of your final mark.
