Position: HSSE Advisor

To provide support to the Global HSSE Leader in health, safety, security and environmental matters and ensure the successful implementation of the HSSE management system leading to the development of an advanced safety culture across the EMEA region.

Key responsibilities;

·  To be the appointed “management representative” for external certifcation purposes.

·  The development and maintenance of the organisations management system(s), This will include the creation of new and revising of existing documentation to reflect changing operational circumstances, taking into consideration legislative requirements and industry best practice.

·  The development and implementation of behavioural based safety methodology as deemed appropriate to the needs of the business and customer expectations.

·  Contribute to the development and delivery of the EMEA HSSE plan.

·  Contribute to the development and delivery of customer/project HSSE plans.

·  Facilitate communication and consultation through facility level HSSE (Q) forums/meetings.

·  Reviewing Contractor HSSE Plans, Interface Documents, Operations Plans and Emergency Response Plans.

·  Ensure all activity is suitably risk assessed and hazards identified mitigated to ALARP.

·  Maintains and develops the legal and other requirements and impacts and aspects registers.

·  Undertakes safety and environmental audits, inspections and impact assessments as required.

·  Conducts investigations of safety and environmental incidents with line management, ensures suitable and sufficient root cause analysis is undertaken and preventative solutions implemented.

·  To take an active role in management reviews to drive continuous improvement.

·  To assist in the ongoing development and maintenance of the organizations safety management and document control software (OSHENS).

·  Contribute to in-house training, development and competency assessments of company personnel & new starters in environmental and health & safety management systems.

·  Pro-actively seeking to avoid problems by promoting and increasing safety and environmental awareness within the business.

·  Use the VOC to develop mutually beneficial relationships with key customers and ensure customer expectations are met at every opportunity.

Candidates wishing to be considered for this position should have the following qualifications/experience:

·  Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken

·  Ability to work in a team environment with minimum supervision

·  Competence in the preparation of technical documentation to a high standard

·  Experience and knowledge of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 Management Systems

·  Recognised diploma level safety or environmental qualification

Membership of recognised professional body (CMIOSH / IEMA / MIIRSM or working towards)

·  Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

·  IRCA registered Auditor/Lead Auditor desirable.

·  Flexibility to travel within the EMEA region (up to 35% of the role)
