IR BOOK CREATIVE PROJECT DUE January 18th

Now that you have completed your IR book, try your hand at creatively responding to the story. For each, use your imagination, but stick with the truth of the original text. Choose one of the following options:

Option A: Missing Chapter. You will write the next chapter in the book, set sometime after the ending. The paper must be typed, double spaced, 2-3 pages, and in first person perspective. (Possible creative change: You may write a “hidden” chapter through the eyes of one of the other characters that takes place some time before the ending of the book. This story, however, should remain true to the truths of the character and “sound” like the character. You will still be graded on content and grammar.)DO NOT WRITE ONE GIANT PARAGRAPH. LOOK INTO PARAGRAPHING STORIES AND DIALOGUE.

Option B: Commercial (Videotaped or on PowerPoint) You will imagine that the book is being made into a movie. Write a script and get friends to help you perform a scene or use PowerPoint to create a trailer. Pre-taped movie scenes should have a clear plot, be edited, four minutes in length (not including bloopers), and in a format easily viewed on FPM computers.

Option C:A to Z Scrapbook. Create a scrapbook of images that relate to your chosen book. It should include an illustrated cover design that goes beyond the original cover art. The pages of the scrapbook should feature one image (of an important character, event, object, or location) for each letter of the alphabet; you may need to get a bit creative with some of the letters. Each image should be accompanied by a description of the image’s significance to the book in a short paragraph of no fewer than six sentences. You may put more than one image on a page; do not skip letters.

Option D: Movie Soundtrack. You must burn a CD of at least SEVEN songs that includes songs to accompany characters and events from the book. You MUST type up a CD booklet cover that includes an appropriate title, cover illustration, and has a jacket insert that fully explains HOW each song connects to the book. The explanations should be at minimum six sentences each and make specific references to the book and the songlyrics.

Option E: Graphic Novel/Comic/Children’s book. You will create a 10-cell comic (20 if you are working in a pair). The comic must have a blend of narration and dialogue in speech bubbles. Each cell must have narration and dialogue. You may choose to do this on PowerPoint with a draw program and music.

Option F:Set and Costume design. Imagine you are preparing the book for a movie or stage production. Design at least FOUR costumes and ONE set. Be sure to label your designs. Maximum points if you build a model recreation of your plans. For each, write a short paragraph description of no fewer than six lines each defending the appropriateness to the author’s original vision.
