Dear 7th Grade Concert Band Students and Parents:

Our 7th Grade Concert Bandis working hard preparing our music for the upcoming Georgia Music Educators Association Large Group Performance Assessment (or LGPE). LGPE is the band equivalent to the Milestones Test. Our performance at this event is an opportunity to measure our performance ability against a high standard of musicianship that has been developed in Cobb County. We are not competing against another middle school band. We are “competing” against ourselves…..trying to make our next performance better than our last one.

We also have some additional rehearsals and performances that will take place over the next few weeks. So, here is all the information you need to be ready.

Tuesday, March7, 2018 – 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm: Final Rehearsal/Concert and instructions– Smitha Middle School Theatre. We will perform our festival music and then conclude by 6:30 pm. Parents, please join us in the theater at 6:15 pm for a casual mini-concert. Your child may leave with you after the performance.

Wednesday, March 21, 2018 – Band Festival (LGPE) – McEachern High School. We perform at 3:25pm at McEachern HS. Parents are invited to attend. We do need 4 chaperones to join us for this trip.Parents, if you are able to chaperoneplease let us know on the bottom of the form. Chaperones will need to arrive at Smitha by 12:30 pm. We will return to Smitha by 6:00 pm. Students, please wear your full uniform to school (band polo shirt, solid black pants, solid black shoes, solid black belt, and solid black socks.) McEachern High School is located at 2400 New MacLand RdPowder Springs, GA 30127.

Wednesday, May 19,2018 – Band Spring Concert – Smitha Middle School – 7:00 pm. – Students need to arrive at 6:15 pm in full uniform.
