“Changing our world one life at a time”
May has been a very interesting month. The first part of the month, we survived the Flu Outbreak. IT was a little scary. They closed schools, restaurants, churches, gov’t offices, and banned all public meetings. We were shut in our houses, and at the same time, we kept getting mixed information on the severity of the flue. We where very uneasy. We thank God for the ranch, because, when Mexico shut down for two weeks, we took the boys to the ranch. IT was a perfect safe place for the boys to play. If we had to keep the boys inside of the orphanage for two weeks, it would have been crazy. We organized sporting events each day for the boys to keep them busy. We are thankful to the special donations for our trampoline. IT has been a lifesaver. I had no idea that kids could bounce for hours and hours. We put it under the main roof so the rain and sun will not slow them down. IT has been hug success. The boys bounced all day, and then they wanted to put their sleeping bags on it and spend the night. Josh, even though he is the youngest, seems to be able to everything the big kids do. Thanks so much for helping us buy a trampoline for the boys.
Christian, our oldest boy, is doing great. His two older brothers left the orphanage to go live with their mother who retuned after eight years.
At first, I was scared that the return of his mother would have a negative impact on his life, but to my surprise, it has improved his life. David and Abel who are living a very undisciplined life with their mother have begun to make some real bad choices. The mother refuses to Discipline her boys and things are getting out of control. Christian has no desire to live with his mom. His eyes have been opened to the fact that his mom cannot take care of her kids. Christian has begun to pray more for his family. Forgive his family, and accept the reality of how things really are. As his family falls a part, he strengthens his desire to advance his life. He loves and visits his mom, but does not want to become like her. His grades are good at school, and he works part time and at an Electrical store. His bosses (who are good Christian men) love him to death. Christian also works on the weekends helping to take care of the younger boys in the orphanage. He lives with us, and is a good role model for Sammy and Josh. Christian has come a long way and has a real promising future. Thanks to your support, we are changing our world one life at a time.
We continue to make progress at the ranch. Last weekend Christian, Sammy and I tied in the kitchen roof to the brick wall to prevent leaking. IT took us two days and the boys worked hard. We also worked on our rock barrier to our creek. We will continue to put rocks on the riverbank to help slow down the erosion from the rain. We will kill about twenty Ducks this week and put them in the deep freezer. We use for ducks for each meal. We have 21 goats and several are ready to eat. We only eat the adult males and use the female goats to reproduce the herd. I have so much work right now to get the ranch ready for the rainy season. We have drainage ditches to dig, Fence posts to replace and a lot of work on our retaining wall. Due to the flu outbreak, my cousin and his friend from school could not come down and help for a month. I am swamped with preparations for the rainy season. Those big rocks get real heavy fast. Keep me in your prayers as I try not to wear out this fat old body of mine. Thanks for all you do for US
