For groundbreaking design:
Two German Design Awards 2017 for Schüco
Bielefeld. The 24-strong jury of the German Design Council has made its decision: the Schüco FWS 60 CV façade system and the Schüco DCS Touch Display door management system will receive the coveted German Design Award 2017. Judged from a total of 4058 submissions from 52 countries, both products impressed with their high design quality.
The aluminium FWS 60 CV (Concealed Vent) mullion/transom façade system combines a slimline appearance with optimum thermal insulation. A key feature is the visual lightness of the design due to the seamless integration of vent and load-bearing structure. Fixed fields and opening units are indistinguishable from the outside. Only on the inside do a shadow gap and the window handle betray the presence of the opening units. Two basic depths combined with the system’s own attachment to building structure for individual use allow for a wide range of applications that are very easy to install – for both traditional, floor-to-ceiling ribbon windows and punched openings. In recognition of the outstanding quality in the design of this façade system, Schüco is receiving the German Design Award 2017 with the title “Winner” in the “Building and Elements” category.
The second award, also as a “Winner” in the “Building and Elements” category, goes to the Schüco DCS Touch Display door management system. Stylish and flush-fitted in the door profile, the display can be operated intuitively like a smartphone. At the same time it combines all the functions of door communication and access control. This means that the house number, scrollable doorbell list, numerical code, intercom system with video camera and the door opener are all integral components of the system. With the Schüco DCS Touch Display, the company has added to its modular Door Control System, which has already won multiple design awards.
Launched in 2012, the German Design Award is an internationally recognised accolade for unique design trends. Each year, top-quality submissions from the areas of product and communication design are rewarded, all of which are trailblazers on the international design landscape in their own way. The German Design Award is one of the most prestigious design competitions in the world and enjoys a high standing far beyond expert circles.
