Mr. Schumann called the meeting to order and welcomed the committee.

  1. Review Minutes from March 14th’s Meeting and Vote

The minutes were read from the March 14, 2017meeting, motion to accept the March’s minutes, with corrections, was made by Mrs. Megeeand seconded byMrs. Fijalkowski.

  1. Committee Updates
  2. Reading (Wood)–Mrs. Vital will be back in the classroom and Mrs. Wood will be the new Literacy Coach for next year. Mrs. Wood is excited about Reading because of BAS continuum for small group instruction.
  1. Math (Weingartner) –#1 in the NATION for First in Math, 5th year in a row. June 1st, 5th grade celebration for 1st in Math participants. Still haven’t received math scores from math competition. TenMarks participation number was great in grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th.
  1. Writing (Stokes)–Core Connects 2nd and 3rd grade writing training.
  1. Wellness (Rodriguez) – Absent
  1. Science (Tinsley)–Broward County will not have consumable Science textbooks because it is just online. All of the components and supplements will be online. Social Studies is also up for an adoption. DBQ writing curriculum will also be part of the Social Studies Adoption. Small group instructional 50% of the time will be able to be taught in Reading groups.
  1. Technology (Washington) –Technology SIP met to go over inventory to check numbers. District email will be webpage now be district website. Very generic template for every school to have a uniform website. Mrs. Hepworth is tracking student coding by class outside her room. The URL is changing to a unique code with a number, browardschools.com will post the new link.
  1. BTU (Washington) – Contract ratification voting is on-going. 2017-2018 budget is not enough to fund school for tomorrow.
  1. S.T.E.M. (Fijalkowski) –Tomorrow night is the Robotics Showcase 100 students (30 from Manatee Bay) will be participating. Last Saturday two 5th grade teams competed in The Science-Olympiad 25 teams in competition. Our teams and individual students did well.
  1. Discipline (Ruiz) – We are working on next year’s discipline
  1. PTA Updates (Meg McClinton) – This Friday students will decorate Mother’s Day Cakes. Ronnie did an amazing job planning and executing Teacher Appreciation Week. Tug-o-war 8:30 on May 31st need volunteers for 5th grade activities
  1. Health and Safety – Health: Step-in-Wash for the cafeteria and hallway restrooms for VPK students to reach the facets.
  1. Administration Updates–Letter from Dr. Runcie in regards to state budget and Suicide awareness was handed out and reviewed by committee. State is looking to cut school funds by per student funding to give to charter schools. It’s imperative as parents that we speak up against this Bill. Fun activities coming up they are listed on the May 2017 calendar. We will be dedicating our Media Center to Jill Kimmel on May 15th at 2:20. End of Year testing for 1st and 2nd graders. 3rd graders are coming back tonight from Kennedy Space Center. 2018 BUDGET Projection of Revenue Worksheets were reviewed by the committee.

Motion to adjourn was made at 3:30 PM, by Mrs. McClintonand seconded by Mrs. Tinsley, and was passed unanimously.
