Job Description

Job Title: Project Officer

Responsible to: The Museum Co-ordinator & The Board of Directors

Salary: £7.91 per hour

Hours: 24 hours per week (Days and hours will vary)

Contract: One Year Fixed Term.

Summary of Main Duties / Key Tasks of the Post

1.  To work closely with, and report to, the Project Sponsor Director & Museum Co-ordinator.

2.  To represent the Heugh Gun Battery at meetings with external organisations if required.

3.  To actively champion the project to groups and schools

4.  To run educational events relating to the history of the project and the museum.

5.  To actively seek further funding opportunities for projects

6.  To assist in ensuring delivery of the project within budget and within allocated time.

7.  To assist in the implementation of health and safety and other statutory requirements.

8.  To advertise the project to the appropriate market

9.  To help manage volunteer groups.

10. To seek out potential marketing and publicity opportunities

11. Ensure the continuing success of the project after its initial build and carry out all tasks and responsibilities which are reasonably asked

Essential Requirements for Safe and Effective Performance

Education & Qualifications: Must be educated to degree level or equivalent.

Experience: Post holder must have experience of project management and delivery. Must have knowledge of the museum, its history and trench warfare.

Skills & Abilities: Must be able to work as part of a team

Must be able to relate to visitors

Must be able to work in a professional manner at all times

Must be able to accept instruction/guidance

Must have enthusiasm for post

Practical/Intellectual: Computer literate

Desirable

Education & Qualification: A Level or equivalent in history

Experience: Experience of funding applications, experience of working within a museum environment. Experience within a similar role and of working within a volunteer environment.
