Line Manager / Head of Rights, Acquisitions and Distribution

Duties / Working as part of the Rights, Acquisitions and Distribution Team across all aspects of daily tasks and long-term projects. Particular emphasis on organisation and communication,supporting the team acquiring TV content, clearing programme rights for transmission, handling media and liaising closely with Technical and TV Playout teams and with Distributors.
Day-to-day Responsibilities
/
  • Work as part of the Rights, Acquisitions and Distribution team across content for all BFBS TV channels carrying out a wide range of duties
  • General administration and organisational duties
  • Liaise directly with companies responsible for acquisition and distribution of TV Rights
  • Organise and manage programme materials and marketing materials from Rights Holders, ensuring the correct tape and media file formats are supplied on time.
  • Ensure all paperwork is properly administered, including invoices and contracts
  • Diary planning, booking transport, hotels and conferences
  • Liaise directly with TV Playout and Distributors, manage any issues which may arise to ensure the timely arrival and processing of media
  • Complete TV billings, filing and general office administration
  • Enter programme data into rights and scheduling database
  • Undertake ad hoc tasks or projects as required

Experience / Proven administration & organisational skills
Worked within a TV environment
Awareness of the various processes involved in producing a TV channel including familiarity with media file and tape formats for media processing / Provys Scheduling System (or similar)
Qualifications / Good standard of general education to at least A level, preferably to degree level. However, extraordinary practical skills, experience and ability are important, and therefore GCSE English & Maths may also be considered sufficient
Skills & Aptitudes / Great communication and organisational skills
Self-motivated, able use initiative and to take responsibility
Numerate with financial understanding
Diplomacy and tact, negotiating and influencing skills, persuasive.
Research knowledge an advantage
Ability to work well as part of a team and

TV Broadcasting processes / Advanced Excel understanding – use of macro’s, pivot tables & financial functions
Familiarity with media file formats, understanding of video editing or TV playout. Technical skills would be a bonus
A love of TV with particular interest in films, history documentaries & sport.
Interest in broadcast industry news & trends
