1Purpose
Birmingham City University offers a Meet & Greet service for all new international and EU students arriving at Birmingham Airport.
Student Services are looking to recruit a team of hard working and friendly people to be responsible for the meeting & greeting of new international/EU students at Birmingham Airport and assisting them with their onward journey to their accommodation.You will have the privilege of being one of the first university representatives some of the students meet in person therefore it is vital that you create a positive first impression of Birmingham City University.
The Meet & Greet service takes placefrom July to September 2016 and you must be available to work around 7.5 hours per day on a rota basis between 9.00am and 11.00pm forALL the following dates of employment:
- Friday 1 July to Sunday 3 July 2016
- Friday 29 July to Sunday 31 July 2016
- Thursday 8 September to Sunday 11 September 2016

Full training will be provided to ensure that you are confident to deliver a positive, high quality and professional Meet & Greet service to our new international students. You will also be provided with a Meet & Greet Buddy t-shirt to wear during your shift.

2Duties and Responsibilities
You will be required to work at both Birmingham Airport and at Birmingham City University accommodation.
At Birmingham Airport
- To meet and greet new International/EU students arriving at Birmingham Airportin a friendly and professional manner and assist them with onward travel to their accommodation.
- To present a positive first impression of Birmingham City University.
- To welcome students at arrivals, appropriately dressed and with clear signage.
- To assemble groups of students and escortthem safely to their transportation.
- To assist with moving luggage if required.
- To keep the airport welcome desk clean and presentable.
- To keep accurate records of students using the service and maintain effective communication with the team for any changes or delays.
- To assist with problems and offer practical advice on arrival issues i.e. phone cards, where to eat, emergency accommodation,lost/damaged luggageetc.
- To liaise with relevant airport authorities.
- To liaise with Accommodation Services / any other University service as required.
- To follow directions of the Meet & Greet Co-ordinator at all times and respond to information appropriately.
- To giveaccurate advice and information on Birmingham City University services and facilities.
- To be helpful, caring and understanding to the needs of new students.
At Birmingham City University Accommodation
- To meet and greet new international/EU students in a friendly and professional manner and assist them with settling into their accommodation.
- To familiarise the students with accommodation facilities.
- To present a positive first impression of Birmingham City University.
- To assist with moving luggage if required.
- To keep the accommodation desk clean and presentable.
- To keep accurate records of students using the service and maintain effective communication with the team for any changes or delays.
- To assist with problems and offer practical advice on arrival issues i.e. phone cards, where to eat, etc.
- To liaise with Accommodation Services / any other University service as required.
- To follow directions of the Meet & Greet Co-ordinator at all times and respond to information appropriately.
- To give accurate advice and information on Birmingham City University services and facilities.
- To be helpful, caring and understanding to the needs of new students.

The actual responsibilities and duties undertaken by the post holder will be defined in the context of the location and working pattern of the post holder by the line manager

Hours of Work
Meet & Greet staff will be expected to be available for shifts from 9.00am until10.00pmat Birmingham Airport and from 9.00am until 11.00pm at Birmingham City University accommodation.You will not be required to work more than 7.5 hours on a shift.
Please note:Travel expenses to your starting location of work and from yourfinallocation of work are not paid by the University unless stated otherwise
