Scholarship

GOAL: To actively advance The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s continuing commitment to the promotion of education in Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics (STEM) disciplines

PURPOSE: To benefit talented high school students who are pursuing a career in STEM

AWARDS: For STEM Career Day 2017,Goodyear is solely funding scholarships for students that will attend any accredited college or university programto pursue a Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in a STEM discipline. A total of $22,500 in scholarship money is to be awarded. Up to twenty students will be awarded a single scholarship in her/his name to the university she/he is to attend per the following details:

-(3) $2,500 scholarships to an accredited college or university to pursue a Bachelor of Science in any Engineering discipline

(1 of 3) $2,500 to be awarded to a female applicant and sponsored by the Fostering Young Women in Excellence Scholarship Fund (FYWESF)

-(5) $1,000 scholarships to an accredited college or university to pursue a Bachelor of Science in any Engineering discipline

-(4) $500 scholarships to an accredited college or university to pursue a Bachelor of Science in any Engineering discipline

-(5) $1,000 scholarships to an accredited college or university to pursue a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in any STEM discipline– to be awarded to applicants currently enrolled in Akron Public Schools

-(3) $1,000 scholarships to an accredited college or university to pursue a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in any STEM discipline

Criteria for the distribution of the academic awards:

The applicant must be a high school senior enrolled in a public or private school or home schooled in Northeast Ohio.

The applicant must complete a formal application by March10, 2017by submitting all required materials which include:

Application document
“Greatness STEMs from Me” creative component (see details on application)
Oneletter of recommendation from a core STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math) teacher
High school transcript
SAT or ACT scores (a photocopy of the official score report)

The applicant must provide evidence of acceptance into a bachelor’sor associate undergraduate STEM program or a letter of intent. (Copy of official acceptance letter must be provided prior to check being issued to the school in the winner’s name. If evidence is not provided by August 14, 2017, the scholarship is forfeited.)
Academic Status: Must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater
Eligibility: U.S. Citizen
Applicantshouldattend the Goodyear STEM Career Day on April 29, 2017. Alternatively, in the case of a scheduling conflict for an applicantfor the 2017 event, any previous Goodyear Engineering Career Day/STEM Career Day attendance can be used to qualify for the scholarships. We would, however, strongly prefer that applicants attend STEM Career Day 2017. Please make any scheduling conflicts known when submitting an application if using prior event attendance to qualify is necessary.

Submit all application materials to with the subject line reading‘Your name - Scholarship Application for STEM Career Day 2017’. Please note that the maximum file size accepted by this e-mail address is 20MB, so if you wish to submit a multimedia creative component, you may need to use an online host such as YouTube and include a link with your application. Schools may e-mail transcripts or letters of recommendation separately if necessary as long as the subject line is the same as specified above.
