Course Description – This one year course explores the foundations of Earth Science in the following related topics/fields: Earth’s place in the universe, dynamic Earth processes, energy in the Earth system, structure and composition of the atmosphere, and geological processes. Students will have the opportunity for self-assessment as well as teacher guidance and assessment throughout the course. These assessments will include problem solving projects, which focus on research and organization skills. The course covers scientific terminology, historical and cultural advances in science, vocabulary building, test taking strategies, several simulated labs, hands-on labs, writing prompts, and science projects using the scientific method.

F 69% and lower

-Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the material through several means of assessment, including but not limited to, projects, tests, readings, daily activities, and notebooks.

-The instructor will act as a guide, facilitator, planner and resource advisor.

-The student must actively be motivated to succeed and acquire knowledge. The student must participate in and complete all activities. The course requires the students’ active participation.
