NCBFAA EVP Report
Board of Directors Meeting, June 24, 2017
It is hard to believe that it’s been a year since I attended my first Board meeting with NCBFAA! It has been such a pleasure to be invited into the NCBFAA family and I feel so fortunate to be able to serve this Board and association. Over the course of the last year I have focused on doing a lot of learning about the association and our culture and I’m looking forward to spending the next year providing more direct support to our Government Affairs and Annual Conference planning process.
In this past year we’ve taken a focused approach to our marketing, compiling and executing a year long marketing campaign encouraging our members to “Lean in to NCBFAA- 120 Years of Service” as one of our primary goals to reeducate our members about all of the products and services we provide.
As a part of our intensive approach to membership, we’ve also engaged in an aggressive member retention effort and outreach practices for welcoming new members as well. While a call from the EVP’s office is always a good add to the process, having the Area Reps reach out and engage members who need extra support onboarding or with retention is always very much needed and appreciated.
We’ve worked to improve the committee support that we are able to offer to our committee volunteers. It is my belief that the logistics of running an organization should be shouldered by the paid staff, leaving our volunteers to do what you all do best- lead, innovate and advocate for our industry. We have also worked intensively with the APN’s to make sure that we are providing ample support to both our APN individual leaders but their associations and association members as well.
We’ve also spent a good deal of time on some internal housekeeping- both literally and figuratively. We’ve updated a number of internal controls and policies and procedures type of things; revamped the employee handbook, updated the Board Orientation documents and procedure, and freshened up the office and conference room to make the space available to the membership. As a reminder if you or your local association is in DC and need a private (and free….) place to meet our office is always available. We have an 8-12 person conference room with a full AV set up, a polycom, a white board, space for food service, kitchen space, and a separate greeting area.
It has been an honor and a pleasure to complete my first year of service to NCBFAA, and I very much look forward to many years to come.
