JOBDESCRIPTION TEAM LEADER FNSW / IFP
JOBPURPOSE:
- Tolead and supervisethe staff oftheFamilies NSW(FNSW) Program.
- Provide Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) to a small number of families.
POSITIONINORGANISATION:
TeamLeader,FNSWMacarthur Family & Youth Services (MFYS)is responsibleto Manager,Macarthur Family & Youth Services.
SCOPE OFROLE:
TheTeam Leaderwillberesponsible for thedaytoday operation andadministrationof theFNSW Programincludingstaff supervision andcase reviews using a child focused / strengths approach. Therolewill contributeto theoverallservicesofferedbyMFYS including intakeandassessmentduties.TheTeamLeaderwill contributeto theimprovementandongoing provisionof quality familysupportservicesdeliveredthroughMFYS.
The IFP position provides an intensive level of casework and a broad spectrum of support services to a small number of families in crisis.
The service is targeted at children who are at risk of removal from their families, but where an assessment is made that there is a reasonable prospect of improvement within the family with the right support.
IFP is a program to safeguard the wellbeing of children, by allowing eligible families every opportunity to address their needs before placement of their child in OOHC becomes necessary.
The IFP service is based on the understanding that it is in the child’s best interest to remain in the care of their family, wherever this is a safe option.
The IFP service aims to:
- Keep children in their home in a safe, stable and nurturing family environment
- Improve parenting capacity and family functioning
- Improve children’s wellbeing
- Prevent unnecessary placement in OOHC, provided this is consistent with the paramount concern of protecting children from significant harm
DUTIES &KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead a team of family workers to deliver client focused, strengths based services to children and families seeking support.
Provide supervision, case reviews andidentifyareasfor staffskillsdevelopmentandtraining.
Work in partnership with a range of service providers and specialists,adopting a multi-disciplinary approach to service delivery.
Comply with all Family and Community Services reporting requirements for program adherence.
Prepareand maintainappropriate records andreports for FNSW and IFP program and as directed by the Manager.
Supervise the correct entry ofstaff timesheets and monitorleaveentitlements.
OversightofFNSW team compliancewith ChildProtectionlegislationandpolicyincludingdecisions relating to mandatory reporting.
Adherencetoallreportingandaccountabilitydocumentationrequiredfor FNSW and IFPprogram guidelines(includingdata collectionandstatistics).
Conduct file audits and ensure client records are at the highest standard.
Inconjunction withManagerand otherTeamLeadersprioritiesallocationofreferrals.
Provide on call after hours support to the IFP families including weekends.On call allowance paid when providing after hours support.
Provide a monthlyreporttotheManagerincluding:
Team caseloads, waiting list, data reporting, client allocation list, team members training and development and program updates.
Ensurestrict adherencetoall policiesandprocedures oftheorganisationincludingCodeof Ethics and Codeof Conduct.
Limit the negative aspects of conflict in the workplace by adhering to internal processes and policy regarding grievances and complaints.
Attendandparticipate in Managementteam meetings and other meeting as directed by the Manager.
Positively represent Macarthur Family & Youth Services in a variety of arenas, e.g. interagency, sector development events etc.
Maintainasafe, healthyandsupportiveworkenvironmentincludingcomplyingwith WH&S requirementsandriskmanagement.
Otheractivitiesas directedby the Manager.
Selection Criteria:
- Degree in Social Work, Psychology,Social Sciences or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising and training staff dealing with complex family situations that may include acute family crisis.
- Demonstrated experience in working with children and young people and their family in a child protection context
- Demonstrated experience in working with families with multiple, complex needs
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with relevant agencies and the community to achieve better outcomes for children and families.
- Demonstrated experience and/or skills inconflictresolution,problemsolvingand mediation.
- Demonstratedcommitmenttoteamwork anda willingnesstoshowinitiative, flexibilityandreliability inmeetingdeadlines.
- Computer literacy and competencein Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- CurrentNSWunrestrictedCClassLicence and fully registered and fully insured vehicle.
- NSWWorkingwithChildrenCheckClearance CriminalRecordCheck.
