North Central Region Newsletter

January 2001

Greetings to the North Central Region

Greetings and Happy Holidays from your NAE4-HA North Central Region Directors. We are excited to be representing you on the National Board. We will be communicating with you throughout the year via this newsletter, email, and U.S. mail with news and information that will assist you in staying abreast of our association. Contact either of us for additional information or simply to share your thoughts and/or ideas.

This newsletter will be sent quarterly to the North Central Region’s NAE4-HA Leadership Team consisting of state presidents, president-elects, regional committee contacts and contact-elects, and the NAE4-HA Board. It is your responsibility to provide this information to others in your state or on your committee.

The North Central Leadership Team will impact the future of our national organization. One opportunity for that impact to be made is the Regional Officers Workshop, February 25 - 27, 2001, at the Marriott West Des Moines, IA. Registration for the workshop should be postmarked by 1/10/01 for the early bird rate. For room reservations call: 515-267-1500 or 1-800-228-9290. Room reservations must be made no later than February 3, 2001 to receive the blocked rate.

New Governance Process

Realizing that the New Governance Process may be confusing, in this issue and the following two issues, we will work to make sure that everyone has a good understanding of the refined process.

With the old process, the board was spending much time on house keeping activities and not focusing on the four critical issues identified by our members. The new process will allow the board to build on past successes, and produce significant impacts and outcomes that meet NAE4-HA’s mission, vision and goals.

Under the new structure the board membership will remain the same. Teams of national board members were formed to handle the day-to-day operations. Each team is lead by a member of the board. The teams and leaders are as follows:

Research and Programs - Jim Kahler

Marketing and Outreach - Dan Dunten

Professional Development - Mary Williams

Member Services - Pam Olsen

Finance and Operations - Al Woodward

State Relations - Kirk Astroth

Each team has specific responsibilities to produce specific outcomes and impacts. This model empowers each team to make decisions for carrying out their services and programs. The total board will monitor performance of each team. Allowing the teams to make decisions provides time for the board to focus on the critical issues affecting our association’s members.

To find out more information about the new Governance process review your October 2000 issue of News & Views, From Success to Significance, a synopsis of the new policy, or contact one of your regional directors.
