2nd Annual San Diego Soul Food Festival to Benefit Wounded Veterans
San Diego, CA – The San Diego Soul Food Festival is continuing its success from 2011 with its 2nd Annual Festival! ALIST Productions presents the 2nd Annual San Diego Soul Food Festival, Saturday, July 7th from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Qualcomm Stadium practice field located at 9449 Friars Road, San Diego, CA 92108.
The event will feature a wide array of food vendors providing their best "Soul Food" to include barbeque, Cajun, and much more. Along with the many food offerings, there will be live entertainment, local music artist performances, as well as DJs providing musical entertainment throughout the day. The event has a fun “Best Soul Food” and “Best BBQ” tasting contest to be decided by the public.There will also be a watermelon eating contest, EQUINOX Laser Tag, as well as Total Combat will be offering games for all the sharpshooters in attendance.
Entrance into the event costs $60 per person (age 21+ with proof of identification), with military members with proof of identification (active duty, retired, and dependents) being offered 50% off at door. Your ticket purchase includes restaurants that are offering free sampling from 12 noon till 3 p.m. and two free drinks.After 3 p.m. the restaurants will sell larger sample plates.The first 500 event goers will also receive a free wristband, compliments of ALIST Productions.
The Soul Food Festival has chosen the Semper Fi Fund as their charity partner for the 2012 festival. The Festival is excited to have Retired Master Gunnery Sargent Charles Padilla, a San Diego native, as its special guest and representative of the Semper Fi Fund. The Semper Fi Fund (SFF) provides immediate financial support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. Urgently needed resources are directed to post-9/11 Marines and Sailors, as well as members of the Army, Air Force or Coast Guard who serve in support of Marine forces. The Fund provides support in a variety of ways, including Service Member and Family Support, Specialized and Adaptive Equipment, Adaptive Housing, Adaptive Transportation, Education and Career Transition Assistance, Therapeutic Arts, and Team Semper Fi.
