TLAC Minutes, meeting of Friday, Mar 16, 2007, 8:30am, Whitman Commons

Present: Barb Coleman, Keith Elllis, Jill Leonard, Bob Marlor, Dave Powers, Russell Prather, Judy Puncochar, Carol Steinhaus, Carol Strauss

I. Approval of agenda (Dave P., Barb C.); Feb 9 minutes (Carol Stein., Keith E.)

II. Reports, updates, discussion topics

  1. Kathy Saville visited to report that David Graf’s workshops (Exemplary Online Courses) went very well: 16 faculty at a.m. session, 24 at p.m. session. The handouts will be made available on the web, pending David’s permission.

B. TLAC e-mail address: Judy reported that it’s in use, four faculty used it to send conference grant proposals. If any of us want to access it the ID is tlac and the password is tlac2007.

C. Advising forms—reminder to please send Judy forms used by your department for student evaluation of advising sessions.

D. Budget (Carol Steinhaus): big expenditure at the moment is for the D. Graf workshops. Question (from Kathy): univ. policy re meal allowance? Probably no policy, just out of TLAC budget—check w/Carol Bergmann.

E. Universidad Regional Norte (URN), the Feb presentations by rector on biculturalism and Integra (creative scheduling): no TLACers were able to attend, turnout

was evidently disappointing.

F. Teaching Engagements

1. Evaluations: Judy reported they’ve been very good, esp magna webinars.

(Carol Strauss [secretary] to class; minute-taking assumed by Jill—many thanks!)

Other issues:

AQIP – Discussion ensued. Unclear what TLAC’s role could be. Wait and see…

TLAC Webpage – Keith reported that SAM server is not friendly to Macs. He can access it, but it is not trivial. Asked us to stockpile changes and then he will do them all at once. No impetus to move for a major page revision since that is ongoing at the university level.

Good of the Order

Equity Conference coming up – still plenty of space for participants
