Notes from Board Meeting

April 13, 2016

President - Joe Cione

President Report :JoeCione:

  • Discussed the importance of the chain of command. If a problem arises parents should follow the chain of command: Team Manager, Team Coach, Division Director, and lastly a Board Member.
  • Stated that the Presidentwill send decisions to the Board for final review but not necessarily final approval before making a public announcement.
  • Discussed our GO DADDY email account’s performance and lack of being user friendly. PR Director will look into other alternatives and to see if issues are device or browser driven.
  • Stated that AlesiaZaggario will be stepping down as Secretary of the organization. A search for a suitable replacement is currently underway.
  • Stated that the player release for Reese is being reviewed by David Braunstein and he will provide a ruling in 10 days.
  • Discussion held to update the calendar for all organizational events such as Board Meetings and WNYAHL Meeting, etc.
  • Stated that in the future, Board Meetings and Coaches Meeting will be held on separate days.

Vice President Report: Frank DuMond

  • No report.

Treasurer Report:Bev Kirkpatrick

  • Stated that all tryout fees and travel player contract signing payments have been deposited.
  • Stated that a few contract payments were still needed to be paid and is following up to insure payments are made asap.
  • A suggestion was made to review all ice payments to Leisure Rinks with our Ice scheduler to insure that there is no overpayment for ice time.

Manager Director: Jill Pitiss

  • Stated that all Managers must register with USA Hockey as a volunteer and that it is free. Safesport and background screening is also needed as well.

Travel Director: John Clark

  • Stated that ice bills start in September from the organization. Summer ice rates are discounted to the organization and that Leisure rink will be closed in late July/early August.
  • Suggested the need for understudies for all Board positions in the event that someone is not able to continue their duties.

House Director: Jim Lovullo

  • Stated that he will notify Coach Jeremy Rosen that he will be coaching a 16u MOHL team for next season and Coach John Marrone will be coaching the 14u MOHL team as well.

Coaches Director: John Franke

  • Stated that Travel Coach’s staffs and their certification information is due asap. House coaches will follow House registration.
  • Stated that USA Hockey will be holding Level 2, 3 and 4 coaching certification clinics in Buffalo during the NHL draft in late June. We will encourage all coaches to participate in these clinics and also to complete safesport, back ground checks and age specific modules before they receive any ice time from the organization.
  • Discussed ideas for presentations to coaches in a seminar style instead of the current format. The Board and coaches will collaborate as well.

Registrar: Kim Standish

  • Stated that a better system was needed for monitoring and managing accreditations for coaches and managers.
  • Declarations for Travel teams will be needed to be turned in to WNYHL soon.
  • Stated that registration numbers for our MOHL teams will need to be monitored and reviewed for the 2016-17 season to ensure we have the proper number ratio of players to coaches.

PR Director: Dan Browne

  • Stated that online registration for travel and House players will begin Monday April 18th. Registration for those outside of the organization will begin Monday May 2nd.
  • House registration will close for teams with coaches once enough players have registered.
  • RWB fees for the 2016-17 season will be $350.00 for ages 6 and under and $425.00 for 8 and under.

Apparel Director: Erin Jerome

  • It was reported that sizing for travel players is continuing and that an order will be placed with Pheonix Apparel as soon as possible.

Boosters Director: Kristen Mazur

  • No report.
