Senior Honors Dinner
Student Volunteer Instructions
Thank you for volunteering to help at this event. Your efforts are very important in making this a special evening for our graduating seniors and their families.
Dress Instructions: Please wear khaki or black slacks or skirt (2 inches above knee or longer) and a white shirt. For safety wear flat or low-heeled shoes. Adult volunteers will be wearing khaki or black bottoms and a black shirt. Arrive at the cafeteria at 4:00pm, sign in, pick up your nametag, andreport to the PTA Volunteers Chair
Summary of Student Volunteer Duties
4:00 to 5:15 pm-Before Guests Arrive:
- Get ice from the training room in tubs provided by the cafeteria. Continue to get ice until:
a. all water goblets are full
b.tubs of ice for the beverage table are full
c. there is ice in each of the water pitchers for the tables and extra ice in the cafeteria freezer
2. Begin putting ice into water goblets at each place setting.
3. Fill all goblets with water from the pitchers. After all water is poured, put ice in the pitchers, fill with water, and place one at
each table of six.
4. Make lemonade and iced tea in the large pitchers. The pitchers will then be poured into the punch bowls at the beverage
table.
5. Place six dinner rolls in each basket, wrap with paper napkin, and place in the middle of each table of six.
6. Each table of six will have a small blue bowl with six butter pats.
7. Each place setting will receive a salad and a piece of cake.
5:15-5:35 pm-While Guest are Arriving:
Direct guests into cafeteria, ask the guests to place their tickets at their seat to be collected when the dinners are served, serve beverages and assist guests in finding seats.
5:35: Once the Guests Arrive:
Four serving lines will be open; three in the cafeteria and one in the Senior Commons. You will be divided into groups and assigned a serving line. We will quietly begin serving once everyone is seated and while speakers are welcoming guests.
- Carry only two plates at a time.
- Everyone will have a ticket at their place setting so you know what to serve them.
- An adult volunteer will be at the end of each serving line and will direct you to a table to serve. We will be serving the "Reserved" tables (with blue table cloths) first and then each serving group will serve their section in south to north order.
- As you go down the row, place the plate at the next opening and then continue to the end of the table instead of turning around.
Cleanup:
The awards ceremony begins at 6:30 and cleanup will begin once all guests have left the cafeteria.
- The cafeteria workers will provide instructions on how to clear the tables.
- Do not throw away the bowls that hold the butter pats.
- Table cloths are to be bundled and tied to form a bag.
- Once cleanup is finished, a snack will be served.
Thank you for your help!
