Application Procedures for Operation Round Up Grant Funding
Completed applications are due to Cooperative headquarters no later than February 16, 2018.

No handwritten applications.

South River Electric Membership Corporation administers Operation Round Up through the Community Assistance Corporation.

Educational Institutions:

·  Educational institutions in Harnett, Cumberland, Sampson, Johnston and Bladen counties may apply for $2,500 to $10,000 annually to implement programs or purchase needed equipment to facilitate a program, which bolster the educational experience of students in our communities.

·  Funding goes only to organizations in areas that provide services to South River EMC members.

·  Funds cannot be used to pay salaries.

·  Applications require signature of the head of the institution (i.e. principal, president, etc.).

For non-profit agencies requesting educational funding:

§  Please be sure your proposal letter contains all the information outlined in the
basic instructions and appropriate signatures (place behind application).

§  Attach copy of IRS letter indicating tax-exempt status and/or Federal ID Number.

§  Attach copy of organization’s mission statement.

§  Attach list of current board of directors.

§  Attach copy of most recent and previous year’s operational budget/ financial statement (to include expenditures and income – NOT tax forms)

§  Please include one copy of any publications that describe your organization. For example- brochures, pamphlets, organizational charts, etc. These should be attached to the original copy only.

§  Attach appropriate bids, estimates, and bills directly relating to request.

§  Attach a detailed itemized budget to support your request.

§  If your organization is less than one year old, provide the most recent budget
statements.

§  Handwritten applications will not be accepted.

§  Include 8 copies of the entire packet for consideration.

For private institutions applying:

§  Please include all the information outlined in the basic instructions and the appropriate signatures.

§  Attach copy of most recent operational budget/ financial statement (to include expenditures and income).

§  A copy of the organization’s itemized budget for the program or project.

§  Include a copy of the school’s charter.

§  Include a list of the current board of directors.

§  Include 8 copies of the entire packet for consideration.

§  Handwritten applications will not be accepted.

For public institutions applying:

§  Please be sure your proposal letter contains all the information outlined in the basic instructions and appropriate signature (principal or president).

§  Include a detailed itemized budget.

§  Include 8 copies of the entire packet for consideration.

General Information:

·  Operation Round Up grants are awarded by the Community Assistance Corporation quarterly each calendar year in March, June, September and December.

·  Notification of funding will be made by the last day of the funding month. For example, if you submit an application for the September distribution, your organization will be notified by the last day of September if it has or has not been awarded a grant.

·  The appropriate application must be completed on the form provided. Packets submitted with re-created applications for “see attached” will be disqualified.

·  Please do not submit applications in separate folders, envelopes, binders or report covers.

·  Application must be the first sheet of the packet.

·  Include 8 copies of the entire packet for consideration.

·  Handwritten applications will not be accepted.

Proposal Letter:

The grant application must include a proposal letter along with the grant application and requested attachments. The proposal letter should be brief and concise, not to exceed two pages, single spaced, and should be signed by a designated representative.

The letter should include:

·  Specific objectives of the program and how accomplishment will be measured.

·  The school’s or organization’s statement of purpose

·  Project description (1 page maximum)

·  Project goals/ objectives (1 page maximum)

·  Explanation of how funds will be used (1 page maximum)

·  Identification and status of other funding requests for this project (if applicable)

If this is a new program, indicate how continued funding for the future will be secured.
