Objective

My objective is to be a creative, relevant, effective, and vibrant educator who inspires creativity and learning from students and teachers through integration of technology, and successful and meaningful instructional strategies.

Experience

Professional Development Instructor and Coach June 2009 – current

Led professional development training for teachers in Meridian, Boise, Marsing, Weiser, and Homedale. Taught classes on technology integration, Discovery Education, website building, iPad roll out strategies, and using technology to support Common Core. Presented at NCCE 2014 Conference on using technology to support STEM and Inquiry learning. Taught PD classes for credit through NNU and BSU. Presented at Idaho STEM Innovations Conference and Idaho Educational Technology Association Conference.

Classroom Teacher and Special Education Teacher Sept 1992 – current

Taught first grade, second grade, third grade, second/third grade combination classes, and Special Education. As a Special Education Teacher, supervised two full-time assistants and led an inclusion team of two teachers and four assistants in providing services to students in the regular classroom.

Children’s Ministry Director at Foothills Christian ChurchJan 2005 – Dec 2010

Supervised the children’s ministry for over 200 children with 100 volunteers, along with three assistants for Sunday and midweek programs. Also supervised the Foothills Preschool for two years with 50 children and four teachers.

Education

Graduated magna cum laude with a Master’s of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis in Technology through National University.

Post-Graduate Sept 1992 – current

Completed coursework in Educational Technology through Boise State University. Earned 72 credits through BSU and Northwest Nazarene University, primarily in the areas of Educational Technology, Science, Arts integration, and Math.

Graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education K-8, and an endorsement in Special Education.

Special Training and Leadership Roles

  • Trained as an RtI coach and designed the school’s RtI binder to be used with all staff
  • Trained in Love and Logic, Charlotte Danielson, Repair Kit for Grading, Teaching with Poverty in Mind, Students Speak, Arts Powered Schools Summer Institute, Gifted Education at Edufest, High Impact Instruction with Jim Knight.

Technology Integration

  • Worked with the Star Elementary Technology Team for 10 years making decisions on direction, goals, implementation, training, and implementation of a pilot project of over 200 iPads and iPods
  • Designed and maintained the Star Technology Project website for documentation of decisions and implementation for the devices until June 2013
  • Manage the sync’ing, purchasing of apps, app accounts, and maintenance of iPods/iPads in the school
  • Was three timeschosen for the Discovery Education Summer Institute where I received further training in technology integration and only 125 teachers from the United States and Canada are chosen each year
  • Created a classroom website for communication with parents and as an instructional tool containing numerous units and online lessons for students
  • Plan for and utilize iPods and iPads in a small pod deployment and as a 1:1 program
  • Utilize several forms of social media and collaboration sites to provide real world communication and collaboration for students and as a part of my global professional learning network
  • Utilize various forms of technology to help students create projects and demonstrate their learning
  • Proficient with many online and software programs used to support classroom learning

Presentation Experience

  • Presented for the last 8 years at the West Ada School District Fall Technology Expo.
  • Co-presented for the Meridian School District for the iPad Orientation Classes required for schools receiving devices
  • Teach professional development courses ona variety of technology skills and instructional integration strategies
  • Lead staff trainings for a variety of technology skills
  • Presented two sessions on Integrating Technology and ELA Common Core at IC3 Conference
  • Presented two sessions on Discovery Education and Technology Integration for Boise School District in-service
  • Presented two sessions at NCCE 2014 (Northwest Council for Computers in Education) on Using Technology in STEM and Inquiry Learning for Primary Grades
