WHEREAS, KAB’s Great American Cleanup provides an opportunity for communities to help individuals make this personal commitment to choices and actions that preserve natural beauty, protect the environment, prevent blight, improve public lands, and make our communities better, safer places to live, and…

WHEREAS, The Great American Cleanup is, the nation’s largest community improvement program, when millions of volunteers; nationwide, take part annually from coast to coast, between March 1 and May 31; during which in past times more than 270 litter-picking and beautification events took place statewide and more than 70,000 trash bags were filled with litter collected from Arkansas’ roadways, waterways, and parks. And

WHEREAS, The Great American Cleanup is a platform for the wide range of initiatives such as; cleanups, litter prevention education, recycling drives, graffiti removal, beautification and greening projects, park renewals, clothes collection programs, river, lake and seashore cleanups. And…

WHEREAS, the goals of the Great American Cleanup is to raise public awareness, rally volunteers to make a visible difference in their physical environment, stimulate community pride by involving government, businesses and civic organizations at the state and local level, and

WHEREAS, the benefits of participating in the Great American Cleanup are that it promotes awareness to the needs of a cleaner, more beautiful physical environment. Improves first impression of a community; which has economic benefits. Changes attitudes and behavior toward littering. Increases awareness about individual responsibility regarding litter prevention, beautification, waste reduction and recycling.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ______, do proclaim April 2016 as Love (Appreciation) and Pride Month in Phillips County and call upon all people of Phillips County to join their fellow citizens across the United States in recognizing and participating in any and all cleanup and beautification events which boaster pride and appreciation for our communities.
