FUNDED RESEARCH

1.“Effect of Night Work on C-RP in Emergency Department Staff.” Principal Investigator. Funding provided by Dade Behring Inc., Deerfield, Illinois. The budget for this project was $28,000. Results were presented at the Annual Meeting of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, Chicago,Illinois, May 2007.

2.“Cognitive Performance Testing in Emergency Department Physicians.” Principal Investigator. This study was supported through an SBIR (Small Business Innovative Research) grant from NIOSH (Grant #OH00766401A1). The budget for this project was $15,000. The purpose of the investigation was to perform a field evaluation of a computerized instrument designed to test cognitive function, with particular interest in the effects of night work. Results were presented at the Annual Scientific Assembly of the American College of Emergency Physicians, Boston, Massachusetts, October 2009.

3.“MRSA Carriage in Emergency Department Physicians and Household Contacts.” Preceptor and Co-Investigator for the EMF Resident Research Grant awarded to Dr. Anthony Nardi. The grant award was $5,000. Results were presented at the Annual Scientific Assembly of the AmericanCollege of Emergency Physicians, Seattle, Washington, October 2007.

4.“NT-ProBNP in Acute Coronary Syndromes.” Co-investigator. This is a multi-center study investigating the use of myeloperoxidase, BNP, and nt-BNP for patients with possible acute coronary syndromes. The P.I. was Dr. Christopher deFillippi of the Department of Cardiology, and the Co-Investigator was Dr. Robert Christenson of the Department of Pathology. Funding provided by Dade Behring Inc., Deerfield, Illinois.
