Metro Basketball, LLC “South Hills Showdown” Official Rules:
ROSTERS:
Team rosters are limited to 12 players. You must start the game with 5 players.
Additions to submitted team roster may only be made before the start of the first game. Any game(s) played with ineligible team members will be forfeited and assessed a -15 point differential.
Under no circumstances may a team use older players in younger age groups. Younger players may play up within their organization.
GAMES RULES:
Grades 5 and 6 will play two 12-minute halves with a 3-minute half time.
Grades 7 and 8 will play two 14-minute halves with a 3-minute half time.
In the event that regular pay ends in a tie, overtime will be played. First OT will be 2 minutes in duration, double OT will be 1 minute in duration. Winner in Triple OT will be decided by the first team to score.
Teams will be permitted one (1) FULL and two (2) 30-SECOND time outs per game. In the event of overtime(s), one (1) 30-SECOND time out will be awarded to each team for each overtime period. No times out may be carried over from regular time or a prior overtime.
The clock will stop on all whistles signaling a dead ball. This will be in effect for regulation and all overtime(s). The clock will restart at the determination of the officials either by the in-bounding of the basketball or the miss of free throws. Running clock is in effect when score differential is 20 points or more and will only stop on shooting fouls and time outs. A return to stopped clock play will occur if the differential falls under 15 points in the second half of the game.
Once a team reaches eight (8) TEAM FOULS, one-and-one foul shooting will be awarded. Upon attainment of the eleventh (11th) TEAM FOUL in any half of play, the player will be awarded two (2) shots.
An individual player will be disqualified from further play in a particular game after picking up their fifth (5th) foul in that game. 2 technical fouls given to a coach or player will result in ejection from the game.
ONE Coach will be permitted to stand or walk the sideline in the coaching box. All other coaches must be seated on the bench.
A 5 minute warm up period will be allotted prior to the scheduled game time. In the event that one team is late for the scheduled game time, a five (5) minute grace period marked by a running clock will be in effect. Game play must begin within the five (5) minute grace period or the game will be forfeited. Be READY and ON TIME!
During foul shots, players may attempt to rebound a missed free throw after the basketball is released by the shooter attempting the free throw.
All officials are registered PIAA officials.
Metro USA will provide the electronic scoreboard and clock operator, and each team will provide a score keeper of their own score book. Home team is official book.
REFEREE’S decisions are FINAL and NO appeal of a decision will be heard.
Fans and Coaches are responsible for appropriate behavior. If an official ejects a coach from a game, he MAY NOT COACH his team’s next game nor be in the building for that game. If an official ejects a parent or fan from a game, they are not permitted back into any game site until the next day with NO refunds.
