audience, purpose and availability
These roadshows are for smaller financial businesses that are covered by the ombudsman service (because they are authorised by the FSA and/or hold a standard consumer credit license),but which usually have little or no direct contact with us.The over-arching aim is to clarify the role of the service and explain how it goes about its work of resolving disputes and settling complaints.
We can usually accommodate up to 100 people at each session. We allocate places as fairly as possible, so that people from as many individual businesses as possible can attend.
We make no charge for these events, but please book early using the form below.
what we cover
Our half-day sessions include an insight into the ‘theory’ of the ombudsman (eg where we sit in the regulatory structure, features unique to the ombudsman service etc) before looking at how businesses can best respond to complaints. We go on to explore how the ombudsman service works and how we make decisions on the complaints we see.
We also coverthe information and support we make available to help businesses with their own complaint handling, (ie beforewe take a case on). And of course there will be opportunities to ask questions, both along the way and at the end. You can also use the reverse of the booking form to tell us in advance about any issues you would like to see covered.
