#5 / “One Community Develops a Policy”
– Sterling Brown & Panel
Successful Farm Bureau policy development does not hinge on where the meeting occurs or how many folks attend. Who attends is more important than how many attend. Past and present County Presidents will share their experiences and lessons learned when developing sound Farm Bureau policies.
Twilight 2
“FIRM: The Fight for Equal Access” – Grayson Massey
The Foundation for Integrated Resource Management (FIRM) is
Dedicated to providing a multi-purpose use, conservation, and
local input on our pubic lands. We are engaged in fighting for local
residents who have been targeted and hindered by various Federal
agencies and provide legal resources, research, information, and
connections to various elected officials in helping local
communities gain equal access to public lands.
Meridian E
“Shut-Up…and Solve the Conflict” – Dr. Brent Bean
When we learn to recognize the Power of Listening as a tool for
conflict resolution, we change enemy into ally, foe into friend,
competitor into partner. Listening increases and strengthens
connection and there-in lies the resolution.
Zephyr
“Adapt your AGvocacy” – Matt Niswander
Participants learn how to begin or develop their advocacy skills
when talking to consumers, the media, and politicians about
agriculture in any situation.
Meridian A
“Farm to School ZOOM Tours” – Becky Low
This session will share a classroom-based program to enable
students to learn more about where their food comes from through
an interactive presentation and a live-stream tour of a local dairy
far. Through ZOOM, a farmer “visits” the classroom to engage with
students.
Twilight 3 / “Distributing Limited Water to a Growing & Thirsty
Population” – Sterling Brown
What is the single most limiting factor to sustainable economic
development in Utah? Utah’s Governor and legislature is carefully
considering options to ensure Utah’s projected population growth has
adequate water. What incentives will Utah’s farmers and ranchers have
to share, lease, or sell senior water rights during a time of expansive
economic and population growth?
