(I) One part-timeteaching assistant for the English Department(English Language) /
- Marked the mock test papers for the Territory-wide System Assessment for all S.3 classes;
- Prepared worksheets for the teaching of School-based assessment;
- Helped supervise and monitor the students during English lessons and English programmes after school.
- The English teaching assistantmarked all S.3 reading and writing mock tests for the Territory-wide System Assessment and this created more space for S.3 English teachers to teach the S.3 Curriculum.
- The workload of S.4 English teachers was reduced with the assistance in the design of SBA teaching materials and other teaching materials;
- Time was created with her supervision during English lessons and programmes after school.
- It was difficult to have a stable candidate for the temporary post from May to August 2006. The teaching assistant broke the contract without prior notice and this resulted in a lack of consistency in the marking of the Territory-System Assessment Writing Paper.
- It was suggested that the same post should be made available earlier for administration convenience.

(II) One Teacher for the Chinese Department (Chinese Language) /- Reduced Chinese Language Teachers’ additional workload resulted from the implementation of the School-based Assessment;
- Conducted some lessons for the S4 Chinese Language Teachers;
- Helped implement small-class teaching in S4C;
- Helped the Chinese Department Panel Head with the administration work related to the implementation of School-based Assessments.
- Reduced the Chinese Department Panel Head’s administration workload resulted from the implementation of School-based Assessments;
- Four periods every cycle of the S4 Chinese Language Teachers were taken over by the Teaching Assistant;
- The small-class teaching in S4C was successfully implemented.
(III) One Teaching Assistant for the Mathematics Department
(Mathematics) /
- Helped save teachers’ preparation time and solve disciplinary problems in the course of teaching;
- Improved teachers’ efficiency in teaching by helping to manage the clerical work;
- Provided immediate assistance during lessons;
- Helped arrangetutorial classes for S3 and S4 students after school;
- Provided tutorial class for S4D students during summer vacation.
- Teachers’ time was saved for teaching;
- A better efficiency was resulted;
- Problems during the lessons were solved;
- The tutorial classes were successfully run;
- The tutorial class for S4D students was run during the summer holidays.

(IV) One part-time teaching assistant for theIntegrated Humanities Department(Integrated Humanities) /
- Helped teachers edit the teaching materials for the S.1 Integrated Humanities syllabus;
- Helped collect and design teaching materials for the S.2 Integrated Humanities Syllabus
- The teaching assistant helped prepare and edit some teaching materials for the S.1 Integrated Humanities syllabus for the academic year 2006-07. She also helped collect some teaching materials for the S.2 syllabus.
- The teaching assistant broke the contract nearly the end of July. Therefore, she did not complete the work expected.
- It was suggested that a bit higher salary should be offered in order to recruit a stable candidate for the temporary post.
(V) One part-time teaching assistant for theIntegrated Humanities Department
(Integrated Humanities) /
- Helped collect teaching materials and create a resource bank for the New Senior Secondary Liberal Studies Curriculum;
- Helped handle logistical matters concerning the application for the Quality Education Fund (QEF)
- As the part-time teaching assistant was occupied by the matters of collecting relevant information and writing a proposal for the 10th application for the Quality Education Fund(QEF), she could not help collect the teaching materials for the NSS Liberal Studies Curriculum
- It was suggested that the same practice, i.e. recruiting a part-time teaching assistant to do the logistical matters concerning the application for the Quality Education Fund(QEF) should be continued. This was because such an arrangement did help relieve the teaching burden of the teachers concerned.

(VI) One I.T. Teaching Assistant for the Language Room /- Helped the English and Chinese Departments with all SBA related duties;
- Helped Chinese and English Teachers by providing them with IT support in the Language Room;
- Monitored all facilities in the Language Room;
- Helped all other subjects by providing them with sufficient IT support.
- Chinese and English language teachers’ workload resulted from the implementation of School-based Assessment was reduced;
- IT support was given to Chinese and English teachers when lessons were conducted in the Language Room;
- The facilities in the Language Room were checked regularly;
- IT support was provided to other subject teachers upon request.
