Dear Parents,
Today is Maundy Thursday—the day we remember the last Supper. Your child can fill you in on the events of this night. We know that there were many events that occurred on this night. We continued through the passion stories this week. We have followed Jesus from his arrest at the Garden (ask about Judas and Peter) from the Garden of Gethsemane to go to the judge, Caiaphas. Have your child tell you some of the details from here. They’d love to tell you what Caiaphas accused Jesus of—lying. BUT, let them use the word (blasphemy). Have them tell you about Peter in Caiaphas’ court yard. Then, where they took Jesus to another judge—the High Priest—Pilate. Pilate didn’t want to crucify Jesus, so—what did he have his soldier’s do, as a way to make the people feel sorry for Jesus? Who did Pilate release from his jail? The story is really escalating quickly—much happening. We continue working on our HE DIED FOR ME booklet. Another couple of the pages are featured on our web page. We have actually ended our story at the point of the death, but we have talked about the resurrection. We haven’t gone into the details, but didn’t want to leave Jesus in the grave until Tuesday, when we return to school. We reinforced our story this week using the Resurrection Eggs and the story of Benjamin’s Box. See what treasures your child can recall Benjamin having in his box.
We finally finished our alphabet! YEAH! This week we had the letter “Z” with Zippy Zebra. We added the new words zoo, you, in, and come. Now that we have completed the alphabet, we’ll still review our recognition of the letters and sounds, but we’ll be concentrating more on reading those words in sentences, as well as making sentences of our own.
The Happy Sacks will come home on Tuesday with Kennedi, Camryn, Simone, and Savannah. We have finished the alphabet, so for the next couple of rounds through the class, the bags will be a SHOW and TELL bag. Please don’t let them stuff the bag full of all of their favorite toys. Please help them select ONE favorite thing to show, or two items if they are related in some way—(a Barbie car with Barbie riding in the car). The bags will come home on Tuesday, and they are due back by Friday.
Congratulations to the latest certificate earners—Jeremiah—500, Simone—400, Jannah—250, and Lucas—150. Always happy to report news such as this. Your child should be able to read some of the books to add to the list now.
Happy 6th Birthday, Reagan! She had a birthday while we were on Spring Break, so we celebrated her new year upon our return. May God continue to bless you, Reagan. Check out Reagan’s birthday picture on our web page.
Our newest Kindergarten Kid is Jeremiah. He’s got some special pictures on the board outside our classroom. He is also featured on the web page.
We have Spring Pictures coming up on April 5. Get those smiles ready.
REMINDER—we sing as a class for the last time—Sunday, April 8. I’m very excited, as I asked each one of you at our Parent-Teacher conference, and every one of you told me that YES you could make it. I would be so excited to have 100% there. On our final time to sing last year, we were missing one
student. LET’S BEAT THE 2017 CLASS! We sing at the 10:45 service—near the beginning of the service. We’ll need to meet at 10:30, to get our voices warmed up so that we’re ready to sing. Thanks for your cooperation in helping your child to be a part of this special event.
We’re planning a SPRING OPEN HOUSE on Saturday, April 14. If you have a family member or friend that you’d like to refer to our school, there is a “tuition kick back” to you if they enroll. The open House is from noon to 2 PM. Spread the Word.
DON’T FORGET THE EASTER EGG HUNT here at Atonement tomorrow—Saturday, March 31. It will be held, rain or shine! Lots of fun activities planned, AND, The Easter Bunny will be there! Festivities will begin at 9:30. I hope to see you there. I’ll be ready to snap a few pictures.
Have a wonderful weekend, and a lovely Easter.
PS—Packet Pals didn’t come home this week. I know that many of you have family in, and others are traveling. Don’t need to worry about Packet Pals.
