The Rules of the Fourth International Classical Music Competition
“Kaunas Sonorum – 2017”
I. Organizers
1. The Fourth International Classical Music Competition “Kaunas Sonorum – 2017” is organized by Kaunas city municipality, Kaunas First Music School, Kaunas Aleksandras Kacanauskas Music School and Kaunas Mikas Petrauskas Music School. The Competition is organized every two years.
2. The partners of the competition are: Kaunas State Philharmony, Vytautas Magnus University, Kaunas Juozas Naujalis Music Gymnasium, and Kaunas Juozas Gruodis Conservatoire, Garliava Art School.
3. The patron of the competition is Visvaldas Matijošaitis – Mayor of Kaunas City

II. Conditions and Requirements for the Program
5. Participants of the Competition are divided into five groups:
1st group – piano players;
2nd group – string instruments players;
3rd group – wind instruments players;
4th group – accordion players;
5th group – vocalists.
6. Requirements for piano players:

7. Requirements for string instrument (violin, alto, violoncello, double bass) players:

10. Requirements for participants of the voice group:

11. Properly filled application forms must be sent not later than the 20th October 2017 by email:
Together with the filled application form, it is necessary to attach a copy of the birth certificate or identification card, the documents of participant’s fees payment, a photo of the participant. If participants of the competition need an accompanist it is necessary to attach the notes of pieces.
12. Participants of the Competition agree that the list of participants which will include their names, surnames, groups and categories will be published at the places of the Competition and on the website of the Competition: www.Kaunassonorum.kaunas.lt

14. Participants of the Competition who request an accompanist must pay an additional fee of 30 EUR. This request must be indicated in the application form. This fee is paid for accompanist service at the Competition and one rehearsal of 45 minutes. Participants of the Competition who request any additional rehearsals with accompanist must pay an additional fee of 10 EUR for each rehearsal of 45 minutes. The quantity of rehearsals must be indicated in application form.
15. Participants of the Competition agree that their performance at the Competition can be recorded, broadcasted or reproduced in any technological ways.
16. Participants of the Competition shall have their documents which confirm their identity and which could be presented to the organizers upon request.
17. The Grand Prix winner of each groupmust participate in the final round of the Competition.
III. Jury of the Competition
18. Participants of the Competition shall be evaluated by an international jury. The evaluation of the jury shall be published at the places of the Competition. The evaluation of the jury is final. Studentsofjury membersarenot allowedtotake partin theCompetition
IV. Course of the Competition
19. The Competition will be held in Kaunas, from 29 November till 2 December 2017. The performances of participants in the groups will be held from 29 November till 1 December 2017. The final round of the Competition will be held on 1 December 2017, from 6 p.m. onwards. The awarding ceremony of the winners will be held on 2 December 2017. The detailed program of the Competition will be sent to all participants of the competition and published on the website: www.kaunassonorum.kaunas.lt until the 20 November 2017.
V. Prizes
20. Winners of the Competition shall be awarded with diplomas, medals, monetary prizes and various souvenirs.
21. Winners of piano, string instruments, wind instruments and accordion groups shall be awarded with the following prizes:
Winners of A and B categories: diplomas, medals and various souvenirs;
The Ist place winner of C categories: diplomas and monetary prize of 150 EUR;
The IInd and the IIIrd place winners of C categories: diplomas, medals and various souvenirs
The Ist place winner of D categories: diplomas and monetary prizes of 200 EUR;
The IInd and the IIIrd place winners of D categories: diplomas, medals and various souvenirs;
The Ist place winner of E categories: diplomas and monetary prizes of 250 EUR;
The IInd and the IIIrd place winners of E categories: diplomas, medals and various souvenirs;
The Grand prix winners of these groups: diplomas and monetary prizes of 350 EUR.
22. Winners of voice group shall be awarded with the following prizes:
The Ist place winner of A category: diploma and monetary prize of 150 EUR;
The IInd and the IIIrd place winners of A category: diplomas, medals and various souvenirs;
The Ist place winner of B category: diploma and monetary prize of 200 EUR;
The IInd and the IIIrd place winners of B category: diplomas, medals and various souvenirs;
The Ist place winner of C category: diploma and monetary prize of 250 EUR;
The IInd and the IIIrd place winners of C category: diplomas, medals and various souvenirs;
The Grand prix winners of this group: diploma and monetary prize of 350 EUR.
23. Only one grand prix winner shall be assigned for each group of participants.
24. The winner of the final round of the Competition shall be awarded with the diploma of GRAND PRIX of the competition and the monetary prize of 2 000 EUR. The winner of the Competitions GRAND PRIX will not be awarded with the monetary prize of the winner of group Grand prix. The winner of the final round also shall be awarded with the special prize of Kaunas city symphony orchestra – concert with Kaunas city symphony orchestra at Kaunas state philharmonic.
25. The diplomats and the winners of special prizes shall be nominated under the decision of the jury.
VI. Final Decisions
26. The participation in the Competition is voluntary. By taking part in the Competition the participants confirm that they are familiar with the rules of the Competition and that they shall follow them.
27. The participants of the Competition who break the rules shall not be evaluated.
