New Testament Survey with Thelma English
NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY Grades 8-12 (grade 7 with permission: strong readers) 8:30 am-10:40am Thursdays
1 high school credit (claim as Bible, First Century History, or English). Thelma’s Master’s studies are in Exegetical Theology so she is well-suited to teach the Bible (Grammatical-Historical method, literal Genesis, one Isaiah, etc). The class utilizes All audio and PowerPoints post at the web site. Students will receive a Username and Password to access audio, PowerPoints, and other materials Session One. Students bring their Bible to class each week: KJV, NKJV, ESV, NIV, or NAS (not the Living translation paraphrase please). Parents are welcome as space allows.
The 200-page Syllabus compliments weekly readings with additional insight from magazine articles, book excerpts, outlines, and maps (Bring a 3-ring binder Session One). Weekly assignments include Bible reading (8 chapters per week), plus syllabus reading, map making, chart making, Greek word studies, artistic interpretations, or minibiographies (150/175/200 words minimum, divided into three grade categories: 7th/8th, 9th/10th, 11th/12th).Archaeology is included whenever possible: Bethlehem, Corinth, Antioch, Rome, Jerusalem and Temple Mount, Herod's Temple, Siloam Pool, NT papyri and Codices, Athens, Missionary Journeys, Ephesus, House of Peter (?), and catacombs.
This class utilizes the website extensively (students may access class audio and PowerPoints if they miss a class). See for a class sample: audio and PowerPoint). All lectures are recorded.
Non-Remnant Church students:
Tuition is $400 plus a $30 materials fee ($430 total fees). No sibling discount. Bible and Bible dictionary are required. An online Bible dictionary or free Bible software (e.g., E-Sword) works well. The hard copy "Holman's Illustrated Bible Dictionary" is my favorite and is available for $20 on Amazon ($29.99 in bookstores).
Remnant Church members and S.H.E. group members (or those who call Remnant their "home" church):
Tuition is $380 plus a $30 materials fee ($410 total fees). Sibling tuition is $360 plus a $30 copy fee ($390).
