Enclosed is a GSRC scholarship application packet. This information needs to be distributed to the students in your program in an expedient manner. Make as many photocopies as you need.

PLEASE encourage your students to apply and assist them as necessary in completing their applications.

Following these simple instructions could produce great results!

  1. APPLICATIONS WILLONLY BE ACCEPTED ELECTRONICALLY.
  1. Instructors have been provided a waiver for the students to sign so that any potential legal concerns based upon the unofficial (not from the Admissions Office) reporting of grades may be made by instructors.
  1. Students making application for the financial scholarship are now being encouraged to obtain an official indication from Financial Aid as to the necessity of a scholarship based upon financial hardship. If students are unable to obtain such information from Financial Aid, they must submit a letter of justification, substantiated by their instructor, as to financial need.
  1. Instructors will be required to provide a somewhat more in-depth assessment of the applicants.

GSRC STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABILITY

There are four (4), $500.00 scholarships available. Two will be awarded to students enrolled in a Board of Regents CoARC accredited respiratory care program (one based on academic standing/financial need and one will be based upon academics). Two will be awarded to students enrolled in a Technical College System of Georgia CoARC accredited respiratory care program (one based on academic standing/financial need, and one will be based upon academics). Students may obtain the applications from the Respiratory Therapy Program Directors or on the GSRC Website.

Applicants minimally must have completed either:

One semester in which Respiratory Therapy Course work was included in

the curriculum.

or

Completion of Respiratory Therapy courses amounting to 24-semester hours

Students may only apply for one (1) scholarship, and must indicate the one (1) scholarship for which they are making application.

Students must include their signature on a waiver for their instructors to provide final course grades for the semester/quarter just completed.

The Committee will award the following scholarships:

Chrissy Spires Bittick, CRTT

This Chrissy Spires Bittick Scholarship is based upon academics and financial need. It will be awarded to a Respiratory Therapy student currently enrolled in the Technical College System of Georgia. The scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Chrissy who died of asthma.

Dr. Bruce Ott, RRT

The Dr. Bruce Ott Scholarship will be awarded to a Respiratory Therapy student currently enrolledintheTechnical College System of Georgia. This memorial scholarship will be awarded based primarily upon Academic performance and secondarily upon financial need. This scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Brucewho died of a heart attack.

Russell David Rivard, RRT

The Russell David Rivard Scholarship is based upon academic and financial need. It will be awarded to a Respiratory Therapy student currently enrolledin the University System of Georgia Colleges. This scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Russell who died of cystic fibrosis.

James Ancil Lewis, RRT

The James Ancil Lewis Scholarship will be awarded to aRespiratory Therapy student currently enrolledin the University System of Georgia Colleges. This memorial scholarship will be awarded based primarily upon Academic performance and secondarily upon financial need. This scholarship is dedicated tothe memory of James who died of a heart attack.
