COMMANDERS CORNER
Our summer season is here and we're getting things started off with a bang. The American Legion State golf tournament is over and due to great cooperation from Post 178 members, Sons and Auxiliary we all did a great job. Not enough space to thank everyone here but I will make a great effort to thank everyone who helped make the tournament a success. Time to address some more of your suggestions. We have taken a picture of the Commanders and Auxiliary President to hang in the foyer. Haven't seen it yet but should be ready soon. I don't know why Michael Tullis needs to be nominated for the Hall Of Fame, but OK, consider yourself nominated. I know our Legion has a lot of good singers, I just don't know how many would be interested in starting a Legion choir. If someone wants to pursue that endeavor I will be glad to support you. Someone suggested having 2 bartenders at busy times, I believe our canteen chairman does that any time we anticipate a rush. Sometimes we guess wrong but our bartenders do a great job. We do still have some round tables and if someone rents the hall and asks for the round tables we can set those up. Bob Newman who is running for State Commander is starting to gear up his campaign. We as a post need to support him. Make an effort to attend any fund raisers he will have. Give him a word of encouragement it will be a great honor to have a local Post member as the State Commander. Good Luck Bob we are behind you 100%. I know the lake season is upon us but don't forget the post. Come out and support your post, Have a meal, enjoy each others company. Our Scholarship Golf tournament is quickly approaching, we have committed our Post to 4 $800.00 scholarships. The Sons and Auxiliary have also committed themselves to give scholarship money. Let's help our outstanding young people who are continuing their education. Grab a club sign up for the tournament. As always I wish you all the best, Have a great summer.
Commander,
Ed Placencia
