A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Daisy M. Gilbert.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Daisy M. Gilbert, and we pause in silent reverence for her soul.

WHEREAS, Daisy M. Gilbert was born on June 7, 1917, a native daughter of the Commonwealth and a resident of Stanford, Kentucky, and traversed these earthly bounds on February 18, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Daisy M. Gilbert was retired from the Holiday Inn North in Lexington, Kentucky, where she was the banquet manager; and

WHEREAS, Daisy M. Gilbert had also owned and operated Gateway Restaurant for 12 years, worked at Begley Drugstore for several years, and was a proud homemaker; and

WHEREAS, Daisy M. Gilbert was a member of the Lincoln County Democrat Women's Club and the Business and Professional Women's club of Stanford; and

WHEREAS, Daisy M. Gilbert was a faithful and devout born again Christian and a member of the Hebron Lakeside Church; and

WHEREAS, Daisy M. Gilbert was the devoted and loving wife of the late Jimmy Gilbert; and

WHEREAS, Daisy M. Gilbert was the beloved mother of Billy Gilbert of Stanford, Kentucky; Buckwheat Gilbert of Stanford, Kentucky; and Dickie Gilbert of Lancaster, Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, Daisy M. Gilbert was also a proud and loving grandmother and great-grandmother; and

WHEREAS, Daisy M. Gilbert was preceded in death by a son, Teddy Gilbert and her grandmother, Vina Weaver, who raised her; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Daisy M. Gilbert has left a void that cannot be filled, and she is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Daisy M. Gilbert and extends to her family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. The Senate recognizes that Daisy M. Gilbert was deeply loved and respected by her family, friends, and community and that she will be truly mourned.

Section 3. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Daisy M. Gilbert.
