- Meeting was called to order at 7:08 pm
- Quorum: met and established
- In attendance: Angela Bradley-Farmer, Kristi Vlahos, Kat Kimball, Kim Cerimele, Elizabeth Crews, Wendy Brewington, Lisa Hunter
- Minutes from 10/5/10 meeting presented: Lisa Hunter
- Motion to pass: Kristi Vlahos
- Second: Angie Bradley-Farmer
- Treasurer’s Report: Kristi Vlahos
- Explanation of budget
- Bumper Magnets/Window Clings: Kat
- Choices had been narrowed down to two companies: Anderson and Wooten. We discussed which would be the better option and we decided on Wooten. Wooten is a local company also, so we may be able to utilize them for any future needs.
- Angie needs to email Marvin to Kat. Marvin is an explorer, and he seems to wander away so much, so maybe Angie needs to email him to everyone
- Angie will also discuss with Amy the possibility of re-drawing Marvin to see if the “d” in Ward can be moved.
- Yearbooks: Angie
- Lifetouch has been chosen to do the yearbooks this year. The Lifetouch rep, Wendy, will be here for a December 17th meeting in the afternoon. Time to be determined. Meeting should last 30-45 minutes for her to go over the web programs. Please attend if possible.
- Amy is working on a cover that we possibly may be using for the cover of the yearbook.
- Please make everyone aware that we need pictures. Elizabeth will tell teachers to take pictures. We need to see if we can set up a shared drive to make it easier for teachers to download pictures instead of emailing everything to Angie.
- Kristi to ask Kristy Franklin(?) if she has pictures from the can food drive.
- Make sure we get pictures of Polar Express Day for the yearbook.
- Teacher Appreciation Week: Angie
- Dates are May 2nd-8th. Discussed ideas for teacher boxes: koozies (Wendy to get Angie name of person in Kernersville), tote bags, mugs, etc. We will continue to think of other ideas.
- Tentatively have planned for appreciation days to be set up like this:
- Monday-Breakfast
- Tuesday-Teacher Box
- Wednesday-Dessert (Kim will handle)
- Thursday-Teacher Box
- Friday-Lunch (O’so) – Kristi to handle
- Spring Fling: Angie
- April 15th is the date – technically no rain date set aside.
- Discussed vendors: Games 2 U, Mad Science, and Magician.
- All games are going to be set up in gym, unless it rain. If it rains, we may have to rearrange things.
- Kim will try and find a Pepsi representative to help us with the Pepsi products: Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Sprite. Need 20 cases.
- Ceiling Tiles: Angie
- Paul to get us 100 to start.
- Wendy to run it through SIT committee for their recommendation on where to start hanging tiles first.
- Sending out to everyone but 5th grade gets theirs first.
- Angie to make some adjustments to the form and sketch sheet. For the record, Kat hates the font at the top.
- Teacher Concerns: Elizabeth
- Had some questions regarding appropriate reimbursements for part time teachers. Specifically the Spanish teacher. She can get the $100, but she will not be allowed to take the supplies with her…they must stay at Ward. Also, she MUST be a PTA member in order to get reimbursement.
- The cut off date for the Games 2 U Reading Log would remain on Monday, January 3rd, but suggested sheets be due on that Friday.
- Need more communication. Let Elizabeth know ahead of time if something is going on, and she will send the email to the teachers so they are aware of it.
- Tuesday Folders or Homework Folders? Stay with Communication Folders being sent home on Tuesdays, but next year may switch it to the Communication Folders going home every night. Wendy to email a reminder to teachers about Tuesday Folders.
- Miscellaneous: All
- Make a flyer to gather emails from parents, so we can send out emails as another means of communication. Next year, we can make sure we ask for emails when parents join PTA.
- Needing planners for new students, but we have no more current year planners. Kat suggested taking the old planners and marking out dates and using those. Going to see if Brad McBride will volunteer to do that.
- Need to go ahead and consider purchasing planners for next year because the price will probably be cheaper right now.
- Core Knowledge workshop this Thursday night from 5:30-8:30. Wendy will let Angie know if Shirley Hyde cannot find anyone to attend.
- We had a great Chick-fil-A night. We need to consider passing out something to say Support Ward. There are a lot of wasted receipts being thrown in trashcan, when we could be getting the money from those.
- Kudos to Kat for getting a stranger to link her Target card to Ward.
Meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
