The Ivanhoe Club is an exclusive, nationally recognized country club located in the center of Lake County, Illinois. Since its opening in 1991, Ivanhoe has been regularly recognized by Golf Digest as one of the Top 25 championship golf courses in Illinois. The club is a full service family orientated club that offers a 27-hole golf course, swimming, tennis, as well as dining and banquet facilities. The food & beverage operation is the “centerpiece" of this very active club due to its consistent high quality. The Club has 4 outdoor clay tennis courts, and 1 outdoor swimming pool and wading pool. The Ivanhoe Club has 300 golfing members in addition to 143 members in other categories. Gross dollar volume is approximately 5 million. Food and beverage volume is$1.5+ million a year. The Club is open 6 days a week in the summer,4 days a week from October through April and is closed during the month of January and February .
Job Summary
Works closely with the Clubhouse Manager in assisting with the supervising of the all food outlets with primary focus on the 19th Hole Bar, Ivanhoe Room, Thorngate dining room and all bar areas. Manages and hosts the Thorngate dining room in the off season (October-March). Supervises all bar staff. Assists seasonal dining room supervisor/Host in supervising all wait staff, bus persons and hosts. Responsible for all aspects of the club in the absence of the General Manager and Clubhouse Manager and performs specific tasks as requested.
Job Responsibilities for the Assistant Clubhouse/Operations Manager:
1. Receives and greets members and guests in clubhouse
2. Maintains contact with members and helps assure maximum membership satisfaction.
3. Receives, investigates and acts upon complaints from club members, guests andemployees.
4. Maintains guest reservation system and makes changes if necessary.
5. Sets up plans for room based upon anticipated reservations guests counts and reservations.
6. Trains and supervises wait staff, bar staff and bus staff
7. Assists with hiring of wait staff, bar staff and bus staff.
8. Assist with training of dining room hosts.
9. Assist with coordinating training programs with service staff in all food outlets with primary focus in the Thorngate
dining room and bar areas.
10. Assists in developing and implementing plans for budgets, staffing and general operating procedures for all food outlets
with primary focus in the Thorngate dining room and bar areas.
11. Monitors labor and internal costs in all food and beverage departments.
12. Carefully supervises to help assure proper service; pours coffee and takes orders when necessary.
13. Inspects food and beverage employees to ensure that they are in proper and clean uniforms at all times.
14. Provides appropriate reports concerning employee hours, schedules, pay rates, job changes, tip pools etc.
15. Attends weekly food and beverage management meetings.
16. Serves as liasion between the Thorngate dining room along with all other food outlets and kitchen staffs.
17. Directs pre-meal meetings with dining room personnel. Relays information and policy changes and briefs personnel for
all food outlets with primary focus in the Thorngate dining room and bar areas.
18. Assures all side work is accomplished and all cleanings of equipment and storage areas is completed according to schedule
for all food outlets with primary focus in the Thorngate dining room and bar areas.
19. Assures the correct appearance, cleanliness and proper set-up of for all food outlets with primary focus in the Thorngate
dining room and bar areas.
20.Checks the maintenance of all equipment in these areas and reports any deficiencies.
21. Responsible for trouble shooting point of sale computer issues. Communicates issues to the Clubhouse Manager.
22. Assists with Ivanhoe Room and Banquet service, as needed.
23. Creates the Wait and Bus Staff schedules while staying within the guidelines of the budget.
24. Makes suggestions about improvements for all food outlets with primary focus in the Thorngate dining room and bar
areas with procedures and layout.
25. Participates in ongoing facility inspections throughout the club to assure that cleanliness, safety and other standards are
consistently attained.
26. Manages all aspect of the club in the absence of the General Manager and Clubhouse Manager.
27.Other job duties as assigned by Clubhouse manager
Job Requirementsfor the Assistant Clubhouse/Operations Manager:
- Interested candidates should have a minimum of three –five years experience with customer service training programs in a similar position. Experienced in Country Club operations or related preferred.
- Working knowledge of ClubTec or comparable POS System a plus.
- Education: Bachalor Degree and pursuing a full-time career in the hospitality industry.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language. Must be able to perform simple mathematical calculations.
A proven self starter, natural problem solver, and multi-tasker. An excellentverbal and written communicator.
- Experience: An extensive knowledge of the sequence of club services, formal wine service and formal dining room service and procedures generally involving a minimum of three years in overall restaurant/club and/or bar experience.
- Must have proven industry knowledge and customer service skills. Experienced developing menus and wine lists.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a polite and courteous manner with the members and guests.
- Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel and crouch; and taste or smell.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to adjust focus.
Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. (Range of $38,000 - $55,000 considered)
