Women Like Us

Women Like Us is a multi-award winning social enterprise that supports parents to find flexible, part time work they can fit with family life. We run a range of online, community and central programmes offering advice, support and access to part time jobs for parents looking to return to work or progress into their next part time role.

Role Purpose

To co-ordinate the delivery of a pilot service that will trial a variety of strategies to enable parents in low wage part time roles progress into higher salaried part time roles, and to more widely source jobs suitable for our clients on community projects.

The postholder will provide a free recruitment service to employers, promoting the business benefits of part time and flexible working, offering advice on part time job design, and promoting vacancies to parents supported by the project. This may be done by working directly with employers on filling specific roles, or through outreach, training and relationship building to help employers create part time vacancies where they have not existed before. The postholder will work with low income mothers who are both in work but in low paid roles or out of work but ready to apply for vacancies with support from the Advice team.

We aim to build an evidence base to help shape future policy around how to engage employers in opening up more quality vacancies to flexible and part time hours, as a way to raise families living standards and move them off benefits. This learning will be shared widely across the Timewise Foundation, of which Women Like Us is a part, and with a range of organisations that the Foundation works with.
