  1. Workforce Ready Scholarship- Brett Morris/Bryan Erslan

Brett announced that originally the Work Ready Scholarship would have been applied to certifications or degree programs but that terminology has now been adjusted by the state and therefore, only University awarded certificate programs are eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship was intended to help Kentuckians who had not yet earned a degree pursue a credential or certification. The amount of the scholarship at EKU cannot exceed the amount they would have received at KCTCS. The 2017-2018 award is 3,900/ Students must complete the FAFSA and apply for the scholarship at kheaa.com. Students must apply by June 15th. Students are required to have a 2.0 or higher and current students can apply if they have not yet earned a degree. Students cannot also be concurrently enrolled in a 4 year or 2 year degree program at the same time of the certificate.

  1. Summer School Kick-Off-Melinda Compton

Melinda presented on a new initiative to increase summer enrollment at EKU. This year through collaboration with the Student Success Center and others there will be a Summer Kick off on April 26th from 11-2 where students will be invited to participate in drawing (tuition for free class, books etc.) Other give away items will be provided and advisors will be available to help students pick out available classes and talk about what would work best for their schedule. Concurrent kick offs will hopefully take place at the EKU Extended Campuses. Communications and Marketing will be promoting Summer school and the Summer website is now updated with information students need. The goal is to keep the activities going throughout the summer since there is not a lot of other things provided for students to do on campus during the summer term. Melinda said to contact her if you have talked to students that would like to take courses but they are not being offered so that they can better match up the needs of the students with course offerings by collaborating with Department Chairs.

  1. Road Trip Nation- Paolo Capretti

Paolo Capretti presented on the results of students taking the MAC series and retention which indicates that high risk students are retaining at a higher level if complete the MAC series. MAC Series will now be offered in JSO for their students to explore majors in Justice and Safety. Career and Co-Op have also partnered with the Counseling Center for group Career Counseling sessions which are available to students now. Students involved in the group Career Counseling sessions will attend 5 sessions to help them determine an appropriate major/career. Also, Career and Co-Op still offer 1 on 1 sessions which are very personalized to the student, although availability is limited due to the increase in demand of students needing 1 on 1 assistance. Paolo also presented the Road Trip Nation portal that helps students identify interests and then provides videos from individuals with similar interest and how they came to be in the field/job they are currently in. If anyone is interested in expanding the Road Trip Nation to be used within the Colleges, contact Paolo Capretti.
