Queen of Peace FLEA MARKET Fundraiser
Parishioner Volunteer & Donation Information
We are happy to kick-off our 8th year of the Flea Market. This is a very important fundraiser for the church & all the proceeds go to the operating budget (which supports many community outreach programs) & capital improvements fund. The success of the fundraiser goes to the very generous donations of parishioners and their friends & families, as well as many local businesses.
What donations do we take for the Flea Market? We sell antiques, books, movies, records, all holiday decorations, clothing & shoes, handbags, vanity & perfumes, jewelry, tools, all types of furniture, collectibles, kitchenware, all kinds of linens, lawn & garden, pet supplies, crafts, electronics, toys & bikes, frames & artwork. Please make sure donations are clean & usable. Only a few items that we are unable to sell: pianos & organs, windows & doors, window blinds & shades, artificial Christmas trees, old entertainment centers, large buffets & china closets, encyclopedia & school books, baby crib & car seats, bed mattresses & water beds, exercise equipment, old tube TVs, computer & fax equipment. Donations begin on May 29. We continue to receive lots of donations through estate clean-outs, family moves & relocations.
In addition to donations of articles, we accept contributions of operating supplies, which helps to increase the profits of the fundraiser. Items such as plastic bags (any sizes, including zippered plastic bags from sheets & blankets), black trash bags (39-43 gallon size), 2” wide clear packing tape, 8” foil deep-dish pie tins, black markers, thick rubber bands, 12-can sleeves of Coke products (regular, diet, Sprite), bottled water (16.9 oz size). We can also use grocery bags, and any type of packing materials (Styrofoam peanuts & shipping containers, air pillows, bubble wrap). We are also in need of used/new plastic shelving & large size tarps for coverage.
During the Flea Market, don’t miss our Basket & Treasure Chest Raffles. These too are assembled through donations. Kim Hoffman will publish our “wish list” of items for the theme baskets in the church bulletin. For our Treasure Chest, we have received generous donations of gems & jewels. If you have any you would like to donate, please let us know. Also, we are accepting GIFT CARDS to ANY area restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, specialty service providers (i.e. salons, dry cleaners, car washes, etc.) or large chain retailers. Some credit card companies (i.e. DISCOVERCARD) offer reward programs based on your level of credit card purchases for which you can earn points toobtain gift cards. This would be an easy, convenient and “no cost” way for you to donate a gift card for a raffle basket.
We have the best Bake Sale too thanks to wonderful bakers in the parish! Consider baking your family’s favorites – cakes, pies, candy, and all kinds of sweet treats.
Another feature attraction of the Flea Market is our Silent Auction. We select several items for the auction from the donations received. Some ideas that have done exceptionally well in past years are antique lamps, brand new designer handbags, rocking chairs, vintage furniture, concrete garden statues, crocks, and collectibles. If you have something that you think might work, please let us know.
We sell spaces on the front lawn for Crafters, Vendors & for individual Yard Sales. Please see the church website for the sign-up sheet & more details.
If you have any questions, please contact Kelli Krechel at 610-381-2642 or Lynn Smith at 570-350-2704.

We have a group of volunteers who help run the Flea Market, but we have grown drastically over the years, and we really need more hands – retirees, working folks, lots of men for heavy lifting jobs, young families, and more. We need volunteers to help from May 21 to the final clean-up on June 27. If you can spare a few hours or work more, that would be appreciated. Here’s our Flea Market calendar:

- Clean-up June 25-27
After the Flea Market, we clean up the church property. We start Monday morning by breaking down tents, storing shelving, tables & supplies, and cleaning. We also must dispose of remaining articles – by donating to a few charities & giving to the community for FREE. Leftovers are either recycled or disposed of. It normally takes three days for clean-up, but with more help, it could go faster! Please volunteer!
