Parent Carer Representation Agreement Form

The aims and values of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums are stipulated below.

Aim of the Network:

The aim of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums is to ensure that good practice, knowledge and shared expertise continues to grow and strengthen and to develop a cohesive and coherent structure to sustain and develop the effectiveness of parent carer groups across England, individually and as a collective voice.

Objectives:

These are:

  • To provide a direct link between local Parent Carer Forums, the DfE, DoH and other strategic and national partners and represent the views of parent carers.
  • To serve as a network through which information and requests for involvement at a national and regional level can be cascaded down to a local level and vice versa.
  • To share good practice and learn from one another.
  • Where appropriate, to agree a common response to issues (one voice).
  • To ensure that local Parent Carer Forums are aware of resources such as toolkits, information and training which are available across England.
  • As agreed by members, to act on a national and regional level to support and champion continued cultural change in statutory organisations.
  • As agreed by members, to explore potential for some shared resources to build capacity and sustainability of individual groups.
  • To contribute and share expertise regarding ongoing resourcing for embedding parent carer participation.

About the Parent Carer voice:

  • Actively promotes NNPCF being parent carer led
  • Demonstrates and promotes parent carers’ voice by parent carers at all levels
  • Acknowledges that parent carers have an independent and unique voice
  • Models and promotes recognition of skills and experience of parent carers

About the working partnership with NNPCF:

  • Pan-disability and across service boundaries
  • Partner organisation has shared, embedded values
  • Promotes strategic networking and partnerships
  • Commitment to properly resourcing the full cost of the national network (including reward and value of parent carer contributions, and development work)
  • Commitment to raising the profile of the national network
  • Supports and promotes independence of the national network
  • Commitment to practices that promote and value equality and diversity
  • Non-censoring and non-directive partnership working

Parent Carer Agreement:

  • I agree to represent the NNPCF in a courteous manner at all times.
  • I agree to abide by the aims, objectives and core values of the NNPCF.
  • I agree to represent families and forums on behalf of the NNPCF
  • I agree to provide the necessary feedback from any event or meeting I attend on behalf of the NNPCF.

Some of the information shared with parent representatives in this role may be confidential to organisations and individuals. I agree to keep this information confidential and only share it with necessary and relevant officers of the NNPCF steering group
