Job Title: Central Warehouse & Logistics Manager
Reporting To: General Manager – Fane Valley Stores
Location: Fane Valley Head Office, Moira
SUMMARY OF ROLE:
As a key member of the Fane Valley Stores team the Central Warehouse & Logistics Manager will be responsible for the effective management, with a hands on approach, of all warehouse & logistics operations ensuring the efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of all goods to and from the warehouse.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
People
· To assume direct line management responsibility for all Warehouse Staff;
· To lead, manage and motivate all Warehouse staff
· To regularly review ‘man-power’ levels within the Warehouse, in conjunction with the General Manager, to ensure that the staffing levels adequately reflect the demands of the business;
· Through training and support ensure that staff have the correct skills to optimise productivity;
· Ensure that all relevant training requirements are maintained and renewed as required e.g. fork lift training, manual handling etc.
· Develop effective working relationships with product suppliers and carriers/logistics providers;
Operational
· Assume responsibility for the effective and smooth running of the Warehouse & Logistics operations
· Ensure that there is efficient utilisation of space.
· Co-ordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures;
· Ensure that receiving, warehousing, distribution and maintenance operations are as efficient as possible;
· Negotiate service level agreements with suppliers and ensure all criteria are adhered to;
· Liaise with all store managers to monitor, maintain and improve service levels and ensure that all relevant records are maintained;
· To carry out effective stock controls and rotational stock counts.
· Plan, coordinate, assist and monitor the assembly and dispatch of goods.
Web
· To assist, as part of the wider stores team, to the continual development of our on-line trading platform;
· To assist in ensuring effective delivery performance of the on-line store.
Financial
· Agree key performance measures and develop systems to monitor performance against targets;
· Ensure that appropriate monthly operational reports for the warehouse are delivered accurately and on-time;
· Prepare cost/benefit analysis in support of any requests for capital expenditure within the warehouse;
· Ensure the effective operation of agreed stock control protocols including rotational stock counts.
IT
· To assist and advise on the development of our warehouse system with a view to delivering improved customer service or greater efficiencies and/or system controls.
Other
· To promote a strong health & safety culture across the business;
· To ensure that the warehouse is kept clean and tidy and that housekeeping practices are set up and maintained.
