BACKGROUND & JOB SUMMARY:
Bootstrap Enterprises is a partner of SELNET in the delivery of the Lottery/European Social Funded “Building Better Opportunities Project- Changing Futures”.This project aims to offer support to individuals who are at risk of exclusion from the labour market. It will support disadvantaged people to move towards and into employment.
This project should particularly target BAME groups, women, and those with physical and/or mental health problems, supporting them to tackle the barriers they face and identify routes to work.
The holder of this post will provide “transformational coaching” support to individuals in the 6 local authority districts of Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle, Ribble Valley and Rossendale. Careers advice and guidance, supported by strong employability support will be essential in supporting the participants to access employment opportunities as they become available, but these people need more. They need to be inspired, they need their horizons broadened, they need to see above and beyond all the barriers in front of them and begin to see a way out, a way up. We understand that each person will have their own, possibly complex mix of challenges and will need a fully personalised approach to find their way through this journey and ultimately bring them closer to the labour market.

The Transformational Coach is key to the delivery of this project
The Coach should be an individual with the capability to provide intensive and sustained support to take the participant through each stage of their project journey – who:
•Undertakes an initial assessment with the participant, captures goals and aspirations and then plans and supports their journey
•Initiates a relationship with partner providers if required
•Makes assessment of distance travelled to measure wider Outcomes
•Completes the case file when their journey concludes, records and evidences Results
TheTransformational Coach will:
•establish and build relationships with participants in order to design and deliver programmes of positive activities that will contribute to meeting their personal and social development needs;
•undertake assessments and identify appropriate intervention and support strategies for the person within a holistic context and address any recognised barriers to employment;
•key work and maintain an allocated case of referrals;
• establish effective working relationships with delivery partners and foster relationships with external agencies across Lancashire to ensure a holistic package of support for the project participants;
•develop and deliver a range of effective interventions and behaviour change programmes in order to support participants to become employment ready;
•monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of project activity, capture user satisfaction and contribute to the production of evidence based reports; and
•remain up-to-date with trends and key developments of Troubled Families, Poverty and Welfare Reform and Transforming Justice/Rehabilitation.

Typical duties:
- To go out into communities and engage with people not currently active in the labour market
- To liaise with referral organisations and local Jobcentres to recruit and sign up people to the provision.
- To conduct a diagnostics assessment with all referred clients to assess job readiness and the appropriate level of support required on the customer’s progression into sustained employment.
- To provide intensive support to all clients with job search on a one-to-one basis and in group settings dependant on the customer’s needs identified by the diagnostic assessment.
- To conduct job search via UJM, newspapers, internet, contacting employers and cold calling.
- To maintain quality client records on a database so that they outline the client’s journey to a job outcome.
- To manage client information on IT based systems and to match to vacancies etc.
- To ensure clients have access to Employability skills workshops Vocational training.
- To prepare CV’s and cover letters to a high quality standard.
- To coach and prepare the client for job interviews.
- To provide initial in-work support for the first 6 months of employment or to ensure comprehensive handover to the customer support team when the client has moved into work.
- To carry out Better off Calculations.
- Discuss the range of in work benefits and the transition from benefits to wages.
- To ensure that all documentation relating to the client is completed and maintained in an accurate, timely and respectful manner.
- To liaise with Bootstrap’s Employer Engagement team.
- To facilitate job focused group work for clients.
- To help clients on your caseload get paid employment and to encourage them in their future careers.
- To work to targets for job entries, to be able to take remedial action if targets aren’t being met.
