Pioneer is a safe, supportive, and connected community where everyone is valued, challenged and encouraged to grow.
August 31, 2017
Dear Pioneer families,
As principal of Pioneer Elementary, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back to another great year. We are all excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways, filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning. It is our mission to help everyone feel safe, supported and connected. At Pioneer, we have great teachers who spend hours planning and creating classroom activities to engage our students in learning.
One of the most important steps in a successful school experience is daily attendance. When students miss school they miss valuable instruction in the classroom. Unless your child is sick, please maintain good attendance. To help with this, I ask that you try and schedule medical and dental appointments outside of the school day. Vacations, if possible, should coincide with school vacations.
The following dates will help you with planning for the 2017-2018 school year:
· Back to School Open House – September 5th 5:00-6:30
o We will meet in the gym for a welcome and to introduce our staff
· First day of school for grades 1-5 – September 6th (doors open at 8:55)
· Thanksgiving Break – November 23rd – 24th
On August 30th, you will be able to access Family Access and see your child’s teacher for this upcoming school year. If you do not have your login information, please call our school office at 618-6230. We encourage our parents to use Family Access for everything from adding lunch money into their child's account to checking on homework and grades. Parents can also receive alerts and communicate with teachers.
I am honored to serve as the principal of Pioneer Elementary. It is truly a privilege to be a part of a community where parents, teachers, and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth. Please feel free to contact me at 360-618-6232 or at .
Once again, welcome back! Let’s make it another great year at Pioneer together!
Sincerely,
Kerri Helgeson
