LOCATING AUTHOR INFORMATION

USING POWER LIBRARY

Click the POWER Library icon on your computer’s desktop.

BIOGRAPHY REFERENCE BANK:

  • In the Biography section, click on the link to Biography Reference Bank.
  • When the Biography Reference Bank window opens, do the following:

Type your author’s name in the FIND box. For the most precise results, type Last Name, First Name. (Example: Rowling, J. K.) In the box that says All – Smart Searchunder the name box, select Person from the menu.

Type “Authors” in the Profession/Activity box.

Click the Start button.

  • Look for your author’s name in the results list and click on it to access a short biography about your author.
  • For additional resources, click on any links listed on the left side of the page included under Biographies. You may also look under Most recent articles or Articles and Books.

CONTEMPORARY AUTHORS:

  • In either the Biography or Literature section, click on the link to Contemporary Authors.
  • Type your author’s name in the Author search box and click the Search button.
  • Look for your author’s name in the results list and click on it to access a short biography about your author.
  • If a website is listed under Online, copy and paste the URL into your browser to check it out.

NOVELIST K-8:

  • In either the Children’s Resources, Find a Book, or Literature section, click on the link to NoveList K-8.
  • Type your author’s name in the Find box and click the Go button.
  • Click the Author Biographies tab.
  • Look for your author’s name in the results list and click on it to find a short biography about your author.
  • Click your browser’s Backbutton and thenclick the Books tab.
  • Click on a link forany one of your author’s books.
  • Scroll down to the section labeled Author Information and look for links to the author’s website and other author information.
